It seems that just
before Christmas, all the casual party games start to get released
and this time Sony want you to get your groove on with DanceStar
Party Hits, the latest PlayStation Move dancing game. So watch those
controllers as you start dancing because it's going to get
competitive!
Following the same formula of the
highly popular DanceStar series, Hits once again revisits the dancing
genre as players use their move controller and the camera to get
into all sorts of mischief as they dance to their hearts content.
Best of all, even if you're the worst dancer in the world, you can
still get your groove on in DanceStar Party Hits... although you
might want to make sure no-one is watching!
Before jumping into the game,
players are treated to a relatively easy to use interface which
gives the players the chance to dance solo or with other players to
some of the world's most popular hits. The idea of the game is to
mimic the onscreen dancers and the closer you match your moves to
them, the higher your points will be. It's basically Singstar for
Dancing, not that there's anything wrong with that.
Unlike Kinect dancing games, games
on the PS3 are far more accurate thanks to the move controller as
the camera actually follows you faster. For the uninitiated, it does
take some time getting use to the controls or mirroring your dancing
with the dancers on your TV but if you persist, it's actually quite
a fun game that will make you build up your sweat, especially with
over 160 dance routines.
However where the
game shines is when played with other people and the title supports
up to 20 players to join in the fun. You can even upload your own
dance routines to the PS network and there's even some fun leaderboards
to join in. With a variety of game modes, DanceStar Party Hits is
fun just to dance, especially when the competition is taken away.
There is a practice mode which also incorporates a workout mode that
really makes you lose those calories and of course, practice your
moves.
Graphics/Audio
Graphically, DanceStar Party Hits
looks a little Spartan on the PS3, especially when compared to the
more detailed games on this console but all in all, it's a colourful and well made
game. The star of the game however are the various artists that

In the end,
DanceStar Party
Hits is a fun game that works better with more people. It is fun by
yourself but that does start to whither quite fast. Grab your
friends, host a party and have the best dance off from the comfort
of your own home as you listen to some of the world's greatest hits!
