ASUS Unveils Exclusive Technology to Unlock Latent AMD CPU Cores

ASUS M4A89GTD PRO Series Motherboards Feature Hybrid Switch that Activates up to Four Cores for an Instant Performance Upgrade

Sydney, Australia, 1 March 2010 – ASUS today launched the M4A89GTD PRO Series motherboard that delivers added core processing power by enabling the instant unlocking of latent AMD CPUs. Incorporating the latest AMD 890GX chipset with an advanced AMD graphics core, the M4A89GTD PRO Series also supports both ATI CrossFireX and Hybrid CrossFireX technologies. Combined with advanced rendering from the DX10.1 graphics API, the series offers spectacular visual output.

“By supporting both integrated and discrete graphics processing, the M4A89GTD PRO Series delivers enhanced graphics performance that will excite and impress both hardcore gamers and multimedia users,” said Joe Hsieh, General Manager of ASUS Motherboard Business.

The M4A89GTD PRO Series is the first motherboard to natively support next-generation SATA 6Gb/s throughput from its SB 850 chipset. It also includes two external USB 3.0 ports for ten times faster downloads, data backups or sharing of content. Additionally, as part of the Xtreme Design line-up, the M4A89GTD PRO Series delivers exceptional reliability, safety and performance.

A Simple Way to Boost Performance with Core Unlocker

Equipped with an exclusive Core Unlocker feature, the M4A89GTD PRO Series allows users to enjoy an instant performance boost by simply turning on a switch on the motherboard. Doing so activates the latent AMD CPU cores and maximises processing to triple or quad-core for extreme performance, especially useful for supporting multitasking or intensive processing. By increasing the processing cores, users can achieve up to 103% better overclocking performance.

Automatic Tuning to Optimise Core Processing

Users can turn up the system performance by using Turbo Key II to auto-tune the system to an extreme yet stable state. To unleash extra processing capabilities, users simply need to turn on the dedicated Turbo Key II switch on the motherboard to activate intelligent optimisation.

Instant Graphics Acceleration with Integrated GPU Boost Tool

The M4A89GTD PRO Series includes a GPU Boost tool that instantly overclocks the integrated GPU in real time to deliver high-definition images at smooth frame rates. Its user-friendly interface also facilitates flexible frequency and voltage adjustments for more control over graphics optimisation. Additionally, GPU Boost has the ability to store and load overclocking profiles.

Faster than Ever with Next Generation SATA 6Gb/s and USB3.0* Support

The M4A89GTD PRO Series natively supports next-generation SATA 6Gb/s transfers, for twice the throughput of the previous SATA 2 specification, to accelerate the transmission of rich content and multimedia files. SATA 6Gb/s is also backward compatible with SATA 3Gb/s hard drives. Additionally, with USB 3.0 support, the M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 delivers up to ten times the data rate of the previous USB 2.0 standard—for faster data transfers from external digital devices. Users can now save a 25GB HD movie or a 4MB song in less than 70 seconds or 0.01 seconds respectively.

ASUS EAH5000 Series Graphics Cards Deliver Cutting-edge Cooling and Outstanding Overclocking Performance

Sydney, Australia, 26 February 2010 – ASUS today launched the EAH5000 Series, a new range of self-conceived graphics cards boasting an innovative thermal design that enables extreme overclocking. This makes these cards the instant choice of discerning DIY PC buffs and champion overclockers everywhere.

For PC-building enthusiasts worried about cooling, ASUS EAH5850 and EAH5830 graphics cards feature DirectCU technology, with specially-flattened copper heat pipes that dissipate heat up to 20%* more efficiently during gameplay and enable up to 35%* quieter operation in idle mode.

The ASUS EAH5770 packs new CUcore technology, integrating a distinct copper rod weighing up to 5.8oz within the fan assembly to better absorb and disperse heat.

For extreme players, the ASUS-designed EAH5870, EAH5850, EAH5830 graphics cards  also deploy exclusive Voltage Tweak, which allows users to modify GPU voltage via the SmartDoctor application for up to a 50%* performance gain.

However, for those craving both performance and thermal efficiency, at the top of the range lies the ASUS EAH5850 DirectCU TOP/2DIS/1GD5, providing users with the best of extreme cooling and radical overclocking.

ASUS EAH5870 TOP/2DIS/1GD5 ASUS EAH5850 DirectCU TOP/2DIS/1GD5

Reinventing Thermal Technology—Get Enhanced Cooling with DirectCU and CUcore

The ASUS EAH5850 DirectCU TOP/2DIS/1GD5 and EAH5830 DirectCU/2DIS/1GD5 are equipped with the innovative DirectCU technology, featuring two 8mm, flattened copper heat pipes that come into contact with the GPU directly. This allows for up to 20%* better heat dissipation during gameplay compared to reference design models. With DirectCU technology, the ASUS EAH5850 DirectCU TOP is capable of 35%* quieter performance compared to reference, resulting in a more pleasant daily computing experience.

Exclusive ASUS DirectCU technology

The ASUS EAH5770 CUcore/2DIS/1GD5 features yet another innovative cooling design using copper for better heat dissipation. CUcore technology consists of a specially-designed fan integrating a tuning-fork shaped heatsink, increasing the heat dissipation surface area by as much as 22%*. A copper rod weighing up to 5.8oz is embedded in the fan assembly to disperse heat as fast as possible. Similar to the ASUS EAH5850 DirectCU TOP, the ASUS EAH5770 CUcore/2DIS/1GD5 is also quieter—by approximately 15dB*—compared to generic fans, providing maximum cooling with less noise.

ASUS EAH5000 TOP Series with Voltage Tweak for Adrenaline-pumping Performance

The ASUS EAH5870 TOP and EAH5850 DirectCU TOP graphics cards are the crème de la crème of the ASUS EAH5000 Series, with incredible default GPU speeds of 900MHz and 765MHz, and memory clock speeds of 4900MHz and 4600MHz, respectively. Cutting-edge design — the best in safety and reliability

In keeping with a tradition of delivering the finest performing and highest quality products, the ASUS EAH5000 Series features a suite of design features that enables maximum gaming performance and unmatched overclocking reliability. The exclusive Dust-proof Fan adds enhanced endurance to the ASUS EAH5000 Series. Dust-proof Fans are double sealed to repel dust and extend the longevity of fan assemblies by up to 10,000 hours*, 25%* longer than regular fans found on generic graphics cards. This not only guarantees cooling efficiency, but also maintenance-free computing due to the innovative fan design.

The ASUS EAH5000 Series is also equipped with the innovative GPU Guard. Originally used in military-grade products, GPU Guard effectively doubles the structural integrity of the graphics card to prevent PCB cracks from occurring. The card also features fusing and EMI shielding, safeguarding both user and component. Having a fuse eliminates dangers posed by electrical overcurrents, a protection aided by the multiple sets of input fuses on the circuit board, which activate to interrupt the flow of excessive electrical current. Thus, the risk of irreparable damage to the card is greatly reduced. The EMI shield reduces up to 66%* of EMI interference given off and received by the card, effectively protecting users from potentially harmful EMI radiation while delivering stable signals for clearer, undisrupted images.

TIME-TRAVELLING BADASS BARRY STEAKFRIES CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF HIS FIRST GAME

February 26th, 2010 – After many years searching through time to discover his true calling, the legendary hero Barry Steakfries has decided it is time to kill zombies – and ninjas, and cavemen, and mummies, and super hybrid cyborg alien dudes. The evil Professor Brains has been sending the undead minions throughout history, and it is up to Steakfries to shoot, kill and wisecrack his way through five worlds in Age of Zombies – rated T for TEEN – released today on PS3 and PSP minis!

Lock and load with pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, grenades and many more weapons to decimate hordes of undead. At the end of each world, a massive boss will put Steakfries to the test, even though he’d probably prefer to be playing backgammon or something equally intellectual. Zombie T-Rex, the classic arch-nemesis of Steakfries, will be making an appearance after his short-lived sitcom “Dinos In Da House” was abruptly cancelled.

Finally, Survival mode will put the elite players to the test as endless enemies will advance on Steakfries, where to one goal is to survive and rack up a huge kill count. Efficient blasting will trigger combo scores and chain explosions, which is obviously a must-have skill for the elite zombie slayer.

Age of Zombies is available now worldwide, playable on PS3 and PSP for US$4.99.

From the ingenious mind of director Gerald McMorrow comes a creepy thriller that will alter your mind starring Ryan Philippe, Eva Green & Sam Riley.

Set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervour, Franklyn follows four lost souls: Preest (Ryan Philippe)- a masked vigilante detective, searching for his nemesis on the streets of Meanwhile City; Esser (Bernard Hill) – a broken man searching for his wayward son amongst the rough streets of London’s homeless, Milo (Sam Riley) – a heart broken thirty-something desperately trying to find a way back to the purity of first love and Emilia (Eva Green)- a beautiful art student who with her suicidal art projects are becoming increasingly more complex and deadly.

Divided by two parallel worlds, these four strangers are on course for an explosive collision when a single bullet will decide all their fates.
