Marvel has announced that IMAX Melbourne Museum is among a select group of IMAX theatres worldwide to receive one of a limited number of Iron Man 2 IMAX film prints. Directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man 2 is based on Marvel’s iconic super hero and continues the story of the 2008 summer box office blockbuster Iron Man which grossed over a half billion dollars worldwide. In Iron Man 2 Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, the wealthy playboy whose exploits as armoured super hero Iron Man are now public knowledge. Despite pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armour because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony forges new alliances with the sexy Russian spy Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and confronts powerful new forces including his Russian arch nemesis, Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) and corporate rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). Titanic 3D: Ghosts of the Abyss
Academy Award-winning director and master storyteller James Cameron takes moviegoers back to his greatest inspiration – the wreck of the legendary Titanic. Titanic 3D: Ghosts of the Abyss returns to the world’s third largest screen at IMAX Melbourne Museum on 13 May, 2010, to coincide with the new Melbourne Museum blockbuster exhibition –Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition, opening on 14 May, 2010. Titanic 3D: Ghosts of the Abyss provided Cameron with a unique training ground to learn the sophisticated 3D filming techniques that he later applied to the highest grossing movie of all time, Avatar. Cameron, along with his friend Bill Paxton and a team of the world’s foremost historic and marine experts, travelled on an unscripted adventure to the site in the North Atlantic where over 1,500 people lost their lives. Using state-of-the-art technology developed expressly for this expedition, Cameron and his crew are able to explore both inside and outside the wreck of the Titanic. Thanks to the advanced 3D photography, moviegoers will experience the ship as if they are part of the dive team, travelling deep below the surface of the ocean and far inside the ghostly shipwreck. Made especially for IMAX 3D theatres, Cameron and his team reveal the ship as it has not been seen since the sinking almost one hundred years ago, and explore why the legendary vessel continues to intrigue and fascinate the public.

Shrek Forever After: The IMAX 3D Experience

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse- The IMAX Experience
IMAX Melbourne Museum is one of two film based IMAX theatres outside of the US to release the highly anticipated third instalment of The Twilight Saga – Eclipse, for a limited three week season from July 1, 2010.
Eclipse was directed by visionary filmmaker David Slade (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy), a director who is well known for creating complex and visually arresting worlds. Eclipse stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone and Dakota Fanning. Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of Mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. Inception, the latest contemporary sci-fi action movie to come from The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan, is set to be released in IMAX at IMAX Melbourne Museum from 22 July, 2010. In a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a single idea within one’s mind can be the most dangerous weapon or the most valuable asset.
