AVG LinkScanner® for Mac Stays One Step Ahead in Keeping You Secure

Free Product Offering Ensures Mac Users Remain Safe from Increasing  Intensity and Sophistication of Web Attacks

Melbourne, 16 June 2010 AVG (AU/NZ) Pty Ltd today announced AVG LinkScanner® for the Mac operating system. AVG LinkScanner for Mac is the first free AVG product designed for Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard and supports Internet browsers Safari 3.x, Safari 4.x, Safari 5.x and Mozilla Firefox 3.x and higher.

AVG LinkScanner for Mac protects users against the ever increasing online web-threats by dynamically scanning web pages before they open in a Mac to see if they are genuine sites. If it detects something suspicious, AVG Linkscanner notifies the user that the web site is malicious.

According to AVG research, 99 percent of all malicious threats are delivered through the web and cannot be stopped with traditional anti-virus software. These threats can come and go within hours and can live on familiar, big-name sites and even on third-party applications on popular social networking sites, without users even noticing. And, with the growing popularity of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and others, the bad guys are using these sites as their main vehicle for spreading malware.

Like AVG’s extremely popular free AVG LinkScanner for Windows offering which has more than 95 million users, AVG LinkScanner for Mac allows users to surf, search, email, shop and use social network programs online with the confidence that the pages they visit are safe and the places they choose to visit online are safe to enter personal and private information. AVG LinkScanner updates continuously with data garnered by AVG’s industry-leading research team and user community, checking each web page a user tries to visit in real-time before it opens on the Mac, warning users to refrain from opening them if AVG LinkScanner detects threats.

“Mac users have traditionally been less vulnerable to virus threats and attacks because of their lower market share, but that is quickly changing and no operating system is immune, as these attacks are leveraging the web to deliver malware that targets web browsers and application vulnerabilities,” said Lloyd Borrett, Security Evangelist for AVG (AU/NZ).

“AVG LinkScanner for Mac takes the first step to ensure customers are safe and won’t end up losing their money, identities and precious digital memories. In addition, this new product has been enhanced to better protect users from being scammed or phished and from entering personal information into infected games, quizzes, surveys etc., on social networking sites. We want to help everyone keep their private personal information private! And, because AVG believes strongly that security software like AVG LinkScanner is critical, we believe it should be free.”

AVG LinkScanner for Mac can be downloaded free from www.avgfree.com.au/Mac.

EA GOES BEHIND ENEMY LINES WITH SPECIAL EDITION OF MEDAL OF HONOR FOR PLAYSTATION 3

16 June 2010, Australia – In 2002, EA introduced the world to Medal of Honor™ Frontline, a groundbreaking game and massive hit. The game starred a courageous young soldier, Lt. Jimmy Patterson, who fought arm-in-arm with his brothers on the German frontline during WWII. Nearly ten years later, the franchise continues the tradition of telling the soldier’s story; this year, with Medal of Honor set in Afghanistan.

Today, Electronic Arts Inc. announced a special edition* of Medal of Honor exclusive for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system that will include the classic, Medal of Honor™ Frontline. Available on PlayStation 3 for the very first time, Frontline has been completely remastered in HD with improved graphics and all of the heart-wrenching battles of the original game.

“Medal of Honor has always been characterised by authenticity and reverence for the soldier. That sentiment has never been truer than it is today,” said Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer of Medal of Honor. “Medal of Honor has had a long, dynamic history on PlayStation platforms. We are excited to continue that tradition today with this special edition of Medal of Honor that pays homage to the legacy of the franchise on this platform.”

For the first time in its 11-year history, Medal of Honor leaves the WWII theatre and enters the modern day setting of war-torn Afghanistan told through the lens of a small band of fictional characters. Medal of Honor introduces players to the Tier 1 Operator, an elite warrior and relatively unknown instrument of the U.S. Military that operates under the National Command Authority, taking on missions no one else can handle.

Medal of Honor is inviting players worldwide to participate in a massive multiplayer beta test starting on 21 June. Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 VIPs who have pre-ordered Medal of Honor will be able to enter the multiplayer beta even earlier, starting 17 June. For information on beta key distribution details go to www.medalofhonor.com/beta.

The special edition of Medal of Honor for PlayStation 3 ships on 14 October 2010 in Australia. Medal of Honor is on display this week at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in EA’s booth located in the South Hall, booth #1601 and in Sony’s booth located at West Hall #4532.
