SEGA CONFIRMS VANQUISH™ DEMO

Demo available from 31st August for Shinji Mikami’s epic sci-fi third-person action shooter

Tuesday 24th August 2010 – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced that the demo for VANQUISH™ will be available exclusively for download from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, and PlayStation® Store for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system in North America on 31st August, across Europe on 1st September and Australia on 2nd September.

The VANQUISH™ Official Demo: Velocity Attack, allows players to choose one level from the two levels of difficulty (Casual or Normal) available. Taking on the role of Sam, a United States government agent kitted out with a futuristic ARS battle suit, players are vying for ownership of the planet’s remaining energy resources against Russia on board a huge space station. On entering the third port lobby of the space station, numerous enemy robots are being brought in by dropships.  Players have an array of weaponry and upgrades at their disposal, as well as the ability to hijack “Walkers”, or use the suits unique Boost and AR mode to take down the robots. The demo climaxes with the formidable boss, Argus which you will need to use all your skills acquired throughout the demo to defeat.

VANQUISH™ is the hottest title Shinji Mikami has worked on in over 4 years, achieving high tension throughout the game and delivering a new sense of game merged shooting and action in a finely balanced manner. PES 2011 dated for October 7th

German Club joins roster of licensed national and club teams as PES enters era of total freedom of control 

18th August, 2010, SYDNEY: Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that its eagerly-awaited PES 2011 title will deliver its new style of free-flowing and totally open football on October 7th, with the publisher also outlining some of its new officially licensed teams, and plans to bring the series to all-new formats.

PES 2011 will be released in Australia and New Zealand for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360, and PC-DVD on the October date, with versions to follow for Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) in October. KONAMI has also confirmed it will be released for a number of smart phone systems.

Following extensive consultation with the series fans and football fans all over the globe, PES 2011 ignites the series with a stunning collection of gameplay additions, control options and new aesthetics. Every aspect of the game has been honed and polished, with total freedom of play acting as the core ideal in the new game. To this end, PES 2011 introduces a power gauge for each player that allows the user to exactly place every pass, cross and shot. Balls can be placed anywhere with utter precision, while all new AI routines hand complete control over to the player.

PES 2011 also boasts over a 1000 new animations, with little touches such as players limbering up, married to subtle movements both on and off the ball that reflect the pace and power of a top-level match. Likewise, the new game also boasts a stream of new surprises and additions, ranging from smaller touches such as a new throw-in system that utilises the power gauge system, and simplified tactical selection, through to huge advances such as Master League Online, a radically overhauled Become A Legend service, and the addition of the Copa Libertadores – South America’s most illustrious competition.

KONAMI has also worked to add a number of new European licences to the game with Bayern Munich amongst those joining the rosters. The German club joins a long list of officially-sanctioned sides that include Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan – all of whom will be included in the game’s bolstered UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League modes. The winners of these competitions will also be able to play in the UEFA Super Cup Final, now fully integrated into the Master League and Become a Legend modes. PES 2011 also features a full range of officially-licensed national sides, including Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands, England, and Italy.

PES 2011 also benefits from an extensive number of customisable elements that allow players to create key elements, such as teams, their ability to string skills and feints together, players and stadia via a number of easy-to-use modes.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow swings into gamescom

KONAMI takes wraps off epic rebirth, as playable version is unveiled for Cologne event 

18 August, 2010, SYDNEY: Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH will use this year’s gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, to flesh out key parts of its eagerly-awaited Castlevania: Lords of Shadow title, with further information on the game’s sheer scale, ingenious magical elements and combat system revealed.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will be released for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360 in October, and is the most ambitious revamp of the popular series imaginable. Overseen by KONAMI’s European Product Planning department, Madrid-based developer Mercury Steam, in association with Kojima Productions studio, worked to produce a breath-taking epic that will amaze, thrill and delight in equal measure.

Visitors to gamescom will be able to play the game for the first time, and KONAMI has pulled out all the stops to give them something to look forward to. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is an epic tale of love, despair and hope. The game is set in a ravaged Europe of the middle ages, where souls of the dead are trapped on our earthly plane unable to find peace, and inhuman creatures of nightmare wreak havoc. Gabriel Belmont (voiced by Robert Carlyle), hero of the peace and part of the legendary Belmont clan from Castlevania lore, has witnessed the brutal slaying of his wife Marie (voiced by Natascha McKelhone).

Gabriel pledges revenge against those responsible: the mysterious Lords of Shadow, and learns from his one ally Zobek (Patrick Stewart) that each of the Lords possesses pieces of a relic called ’The God Mask’ that, when assembled, can purify the world and has the power to bring the dead back.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow follows Gabriel as the player battles to confront the three factions of the Lords of Shadow, traversing over 50 diverse and beautifully realised stages, coming up against over 45 enemies, and defeating huge adversaries that dominate the screen and must be fought in real-time, demanding skill, power and timing as the player scales these enormous creatures.

Within Castlevania: Lords of Shadow’s stunning 3D worlds lie a mixture of gameplay elements. Combat and action see Gabriel using his powerful Combat Cross weapon to cut a swathe through the enemy, while secondary weapons can also be used against foes: silver daggers to kill werewolves, or holy water to scald and destroy vampires, for instance. In total, the game boasts over 40 possible combo attacks, which are learned constantly throughout the game.

Similarly, Gabriel grows ever more powerful with the use of the game’s Light and Shadow magic elements. During the course of his quest, the hero collects orbs left behind by felled foes. These can be attributed to either Light or Shadow magic, with the former used to enhance Gabriel’s physical wellbeing, and the latter to bolster his offensive capabilities.

As befits a game with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow’s enviable heritage, the areas containing the eponymous Lords of Shadow also require players to show skill and ability with both platforming and puzzle-solving tests. Gabriel’s Combat Cross can be used to swing across gaping chasms, or rappel up sheer surfaces, while narrow ledges, thin walkways and high ledges must also be skillfully negotiated. Similarly, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow offers a wide range of puzzles, with larger adversaries that require a specific means to exploit weaknesses, or object-related puzzles that will open doors or give access to previously unreachable areas.

Q: What is the caravan?

A: The caravan is a persistent group that follows the heroes across Sanctuary, providing a centralized hub for players to find quest givers, crafters, and other important NPCs. As your character moves through the world so too will your loyal band, setting up in specific locations to remain close by should you need them.

Q: Who are the artisans?

A: In order to access the professions in Diablo III, you’ll need to gain the loyalty of various artisans through your travels in Sanctuary. The blacksmith, mystic, and jeweler will each provide unique services over the course of the game.

Q: What do the artisans offer?

A: Skilling up your artisans will unlock unique recipes, granting your character access to benefits that may not be found anywhere else in the world. The blacksmith crafts weapons and armor, and can add sockets to some items. The mystic creates scrolls, potions, magical weapons, spell runes, and charms, and can also enchant items. The jeweler crafts gems , amulets, and rings. The jeweler can also remove gems from socketed items and can combine gems to improve their quality.

Q: How do I find the artisans?

A: Finding the artisans will be part of the main quest. Each artisan has been fleshed out to include their own story and quest line.

Q: How do I use the artisans?

A: You’ll collect loot as a reward for slaughtering the forces of the Burning Hells. Unwanted items can be salvaged in your inventory, converting these goods into raw crafting materials — higher-level items are salvaged into higher-level materials. You’ll then take those raw materials and hand them over to the artisans, putting them to work crafting or enchanting for you. Upon returning to the caravan after a lengthy foray, you may also find that the artisans have been hard at work plying their trade for your benefit.

Q: How do I salvage my items?

A: Players will find an item while progressing through the main quest that will allow them to convert unwanted gear into crafting materials from the inventory. This item will not take up any inventory space. This should be a more satisfying option for offloading unwanted loot than the alternative — dropping things on the ground or making frequent trips to a vendor.

Q: Why are you including crafting professions in an action game?

A: Professions add depth to the item collection gameplay that drives the action of Diablo III. We want to provide players with an alternative way to acquire gear, potions, and other randomly found items. We also want to provide additional forms of customization for players — adding jewels, enchants, or sockets to existing gear allows players to further tailor their characters. Many rare crafting recipes and materials are only found as world drops, enhancing the item acquisition process by increasing the diversity of items dropped by monsters.

TARCRAFT II: WINGS OF LIBERTY INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

We’re proud to announce the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty 2010 Invitational Tournament for Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand! 

Based on their regional ranking and performance on Battle.net, sixteen of the top StarCraft II players from Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand will be selected to take part in the region’s first StarCraft II online tournament. 

The regional matches commence on September 10, and selected players will be seeded randomly in a sixteen-player, double elimination bracket. The four finalists will face off on September 12, 2010. 

Tournament finalists will be awarded cash prizes, with the first-place winner taking home the $3,000 USD grand prize. Best of all, the first- and second-place winners will be invited to attend BlizzCon 2010 in Anaheim, California!
