The on-set of  Winter has actually given us a fever here at Madman – an Oscars® fever, that is – as June sees the release of no less than three films starring Oscar®-nominated actors.

The subject matter may pull at the soul, but the performances of Oscar® nominee Michelle Williams and Golden Globe nominee Ryan Gosling will make your heart sing in BLUE VALENTINE. While on the subject of the Academy Awards®, see 2011 Best Actor nominee and all round ‘it-boy’, James Franco portray literary legend Allen Ginsburg in the docu-drama HOWL, whilst fellow Best Actor nominee Jesse Eisenberg (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) stars in HOLY ROLLERS, a crime drama based on the true events of a group of drug-smuggling Hasidic Jews.

HK cinema legends John Woo and Michelle Yeoh return to the fold with old-school sword-play in REIGN OF ASSASSINS and Fritz Lang’s masterpiece METROPOLIS gets a restoration makeover on DVD and Blu-Ray – complete with 25 minutes of additional footage. Dance Central as Headline Sponsor of the Aphrodite: Les Folies European Tour 2011

Film created by Xbox to support a pan-European promotion asking fans ‘Can you out dance Kylie?’

READING, United Kingdom — 18 March, 2011 — Pop star Kylie Minogue takes a starring role in a new viral film created by Xbox to promote Dance Central as the headline sponsor of her European ‘Les Folies’ Tour 2011, supporting the controller-free, body-tracking video game which features Kylie’s #1 smash hit, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.

Released today on Xbox 360 and Microsoft channels including Xbox Facebook Pages, Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE, Xbox You Tube and MSN, the three minute film was created for Xbox EMEA by McCann London and is the latest phase of an integrated marketing campaign designed to amplify the sponsorship around Europe.

Shot by BAFTA awarding winning director Becky Martin, the film follows avid gamer “Darren” recreating Kylie’s most iconic dance routines by playing Dance Central. With each move he masters, he increasingly begins to believe he actually is Kylie, building to a climax that sees Darren take centre stage at one of her shows. As well as appearing in the film, Kylie was fully supportive of the production, providing access to her tour dancers, actual staging, crew and costumes.

Commenting on the film, Kylie said: “What can I say – Darren’s got the moves! When I saw what Xbox and Dance Central wanted to do, it was very hard to resist being involved. I love comedy and the film not only makes me laugh, it reminds me that anyone can become a great dancer.”

The film launches a European-wide, multi-channel campaign dubbed “Can you out dance Kylie?” which includes challenges to win customised Kinect sensors and Xbox 360 consoles inspired by the tour as well as concert tickets and meet and greets with Kylie herself.

Director Becky Martin, whose credits include the award-winning British comedy series Peep Show, said “I’ve worked on a few unique projects but this was definitely a highlight. I loved the concept from McCann’s and it was refreshing that Xbox were happy to let us tell the story of Darren in a longer narrative than usual sponsorship material. Having Kylie on board was obviously an added bonus. Local Voice Character Cars 2 – V8 Supercar Driver Mark Winterbottom

Australian V8 Supercar Driver Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom to voice a race car in Disney.Pixars “CARS 2”  

The highly anticipated Disney.Pixar’s Cars 2 will race into cinemas June 23, 2010, but for Australian audiences this will include a character cameo role of ‘Frosty’ voiced by V8 Supercar driver Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom.  The ‘Frosty’ character will be decked out in Australian colours and marks the first time in Australia that a sporting hero has been given a voice role.

The story of Cars 2 sees Lighting McQueen invited to compete in the World Grand Prix to race against the fastest cars in the world in three fantastic locations: Japan, Italy and the U.K. 

It’s at the launch party event that our character ‘Frosty’ will meet up with Lighting McQueen as the Australian representative for the big race.

As the leading Ford driver, Mark will be preparing to race at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend.  Albeit the race is a non-championship round, the heat will be on to win at the acclaimed Formula 1 event.  Mark currently sits in second position after completing 4 races in the championship series.

Fans can also experience the game from a whole new perspective on Facebook’s Yoostar Playground,
a completely new kind of social game where players can earn Badges and “Yoobucks” by participating in the community and completing challenges. View, rate, comment and award other videos and share your own. Create Movie Mashups by combining multiple scenes together to create mini movies, and enter contests to win cash and prizes by creating and uploading new scenes. Then watch as your Fame points rise on both the video game and Facebook as you rise from a struggling actor to an A-list celebrity.

Individual scenes purchased on the Yoostore are priced at $2, while 3-clip and 5-clip packs are priced at $5 and $7, respectively.
