FIRST AUSTRALIAN DESIGNER INTIMATE MASSAGER

It’s not everyday you read about two savvy mothers from Wollongong launching a ground breaking product aimed at the sensuality and well being of women, but then you probably haven’t met Kristine Morgan and Lisa Hughes.

These two friends were enjoying a morning run along their local beach in Wollongong when they started talking about women and their conversation turned to vibrators (as friends’ conversations sometimes do). ‘Do you think any of the vibrators out there are actually designed by women?’ Kris asked. ‘Seriously, why can’t we buy a vibrator that looks great and better still, feels great!’

The friends laughed. Kris had a point. ‘We’re women. We love beautiful things’, added Lisa. ‘So what’s with all the tacky imagery and packaging? Why can’t normal women, walk into a normal shop and buy a vibrator like it’s a totally normal thing to do?’ By the time they had finished their run, the girls were sweaty, buzzing with excitement and eager to get some answers. And so their research began.

‘We really wanted to understand what other women thought of this whole market,’ explains Lisa. ‘And who better to understand what women really want, than women who really want it?’

After talking to ‘real’ women everywhere – mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, and girlfriends – Kris and Lisa’s company, Love Being Woman was born.

‘The brand is really about inspiring and empowering women from all walks of life,’ says Lisa. ‘We live by the philosophy that ‘when you feel good about yourself, you can give the best of yourself to others’.

After holding a series of intimate and fun focus groups Kris and Lisa knew they were onto something special. They had spoken to hundreds of women who wanted an intimate massager that was enjoyable to use and that they weren’t embarrassed to buy. They wanted something that suited their lives, their style, their needs. An intimate massager that was discreet, high quality, feminine, accessible and best of all worked!

From that moment on the girls spent every waking minute (when they weren’t being wives and mothers) finding out everything they could about vibrators. They even had their husbands on alert for any information that would help them with their mission.

After months laughing and looking, designing and experimenting, their work finally paid off and THE BE BE was born, Be beautiful, Be you! ‘This is all about making women feel confident in and out of the bedroom,’ explains Lisa. ‘This is not just about launching a new vibrator. It’s about saying it’s great for women to explore their sensuality. This is about their health and wellbeing and giving them the right to be in charge.’

‘We developed THE BE BE so women can feel empowered, not embarrassed,’ states Kris.

‘THE BE BE is about feeling sexy, not sex obsessed.

“Happy not inhibited, Frisky not frustrated.”

THE BE BE is the first product from Love Being Woman and has been designed to embody the Love Being Woman philosophy. Kristine and Lisa live by the philosophy

‘When you feel great about yourself, you give the best of yourself to others’.

They hope you’ll discover this philosophy too.

Habbo Hotel Hits 200 Million Registrations

10th Anniversary Year Marks the Best in the Social Game’s History

24 March 2011: Habbo Hotel, the world’s largest teen virtual community and social game, has now reached 200 million registrations. Each individual registration equals one virtual character called a “Habbo.” The 200 millionth Habbo was created during the first week of January in Habbo.com in the US.

Habbo Hotel was founded in 2000, when the first community launched in Finland. Since then, it has expanded worldwide, and currently has users from more than 150 countries globally. Habbo Hotel garnered its first 100 million registrations in June 2008. This new milestone indicates growth has accelerated substantially in the past two and a half years.

Habbo Hotel celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2010. It was also the site’s most successful year, as 42 million registered characters logged in, representing one-fifth of the total Habbos ever created. These characters spent over 400 million hours enjoying the social game and community over the entire year.

“It’s been a wonderful journey to see Habbo Hotel grow during the past 10 years from a small Finland-based virtual community to a service reaching millions of users every month worldwide. Celebrating 200 million registrations is truly a milestone for us,” said Timo Soininen, CEO of Habbo’s parent company Sulake. “The fast, continuous development of Habbo Hotel has enabled us to make quick changes and create new features according to our users’ needs. We are excited to reveal many fresh and exciting features and improvements in 2011.”

Sulake published two blogs earlier in January regarding the success of Habbo Hotel in 2010. For more details, visit www.sulake.com/blog.

AVG Study Reveals Alarming Complacency on Security Among Users of Mobile Devices

89% of consumers unaware that Smartphones transmit confidential information

MELBOURNE and AMSTERDAM, 23 March 2011 – AVG Technologies, the leading providers of consumer security software, today revealed details of a sobering study uncovering new statistics about the data security risks involved in everyday smartphone use. The findings are the result of a recent study conducted by the Ponemon Institute in concert with AVG of 734 random US consumers over the age of 18 regarding their mobile communications behaviour. Full survey results are available in an AVG white paper at: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/other/Smartphone.pdf.

The study confirmed AVG’s concerns about consumers’ indifference to the many serious security risks associated with the storage and transmission of sensitive personal data on iPhone, Blackberry and Android devices.

Following are four of the most alarming:

  • 89 percent of respondents were unaware that smartphone applications can transmit confidential payment information such as credit card details without the user’s knowledge or consent.
  • 91 percent of respondents were unaware that financial applications for smartphones can be infected with specialised malware designed to steal credit card numbers and online banking credentials, yet nearly a third (29 percent) report already storing credit and debit card information on their devices and 35 percent report storing “confidential” work related documents as well.
  • 56 percent of respondents did not know that failing to properly log off from a social network app could allow an imposter to post malicious details or change personal settings without their knowledge. Of those aware, 37 percent were unsure whether or not their profiles had already been manipulated.
  • 28 percent of respondents were unaware that using their smartphone for business and pleasure puts confidential business information at risk. Of those who did know, 12 percent were unsure whether sensitive business data was already exposed.

Other Smartphone security dangers include geo-tracking based on location data embedded onto image files; the transmission of confidential payment information without the user’s knowledge or consent; and unauthorised (and often unnoticed) premium-service orders on the monthly bill.

Dr Larry Ponemon, chairman and founder of the Ponemon Institute, said, “The findings of this study signal what could be an overlooked security risk for organisations created by employees’ use of smartphones. Because consumers in our study report that they often use smartphones interchangeably for business and personal, organisations should make sure their security policies include guidelines for the appropriate use of smartphones that are used for company purposes.

“We have increasing responsibility to educate consumers on the dangers lurking in mobile broadband and to help users take ownership of their mobile data security,” said J.R. Smith, CEO, AVG Technologies. “The mobile Internet does not have to be a risky environment, though the industry must work together to encourage users to take action by downloading low-cost or free anti-virus products specifically designed to protect mobile data.”

He concluded, “In the last month alone, we’ve seen high profile mobile security lapses with dozens of infected applications being removed from Google’s Android App Store, and such occurrences will only become more frequent without action from the industry and consumers alike.”

More than nine million Android user community members have installed AVG’s free mobile security application, ANTIVIRUSFree, on their handsets to date. Additionally, the company believes that this number will continue to grow as more consumers are made aware of mobile security risks and the simple steps that can be taken to prevent attacks from occurring.

AVG ANTIVIRUSFree enables users to scan, identify and remove viruses, check apps for malware before downloading from app stores and check website content, emails and SMS before downloading data or content. If a device protected with ANTIVIRUSFree is lost or stolen, it can be locked and wiped to protect valuable data, and located quickly using GPS functionality.
