What do Duke Nukem, dancing (?) and Darth Vader all have in common?

GAME wanted to share with you the huge success they had supporting Supanova Brisbane earlier this month as they are doing it all over again at Supanova Melbourne this weekend, then Sydney and Perth later in the year!

Teaming up with Ubisoft and 2k Games, the GAME fit-out was the central hub of cosplay, gameplay and yes… dance… at this years Supanova launch event. Thousands of gamers were seen busting some moves to Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2, purchasing from a stellar range of GAME new + vintage releases and even better, having the first consumer hands on in Australia with Duke Nukem Forever thanks to 2K Games.

Supanova had a staggering 27,000 people through it’s doors in Brisbane and GAME had 2000 of those win their spot taking Just Dance II and the Duke for a spin.

To see this in action just click here.

For more information on GAME visit www.game.com.au and for more information on Supanova Pop-Culture Expo visit www.supanova.com.au.

Supanova Melbourne kicked off today at the Melbourne Showgrounds and goes right through the weekend – gamers will not want to miss out!

A dream dances to life: Tivola steps the light fantastic

A dream dances to life: Tivola steps the light fantastic

“Dancing Academy” turns the Nintendo DSi Shop™ into a dance floor

Berlin/Hamburg, April 6th 2011 – Tivola’s recent beauty and styling titles “Model Academy” and “Beauty Academy” have set new trends in DSiWare games. The third installment of its fun-packed Academy gaming series brings everything in motion – the new “Dancing Academy” features dance competitions in a huge range of music genres and locations, from electronic beats, pop and rock through to samba, tango and even ballet. To get the all-important thumbs-up from a panel of experts, players need a cool hand and plenty of rhythm as they draw the right movements with the Nintendo DS Touchpen to hit the symbols as they light up. Players then go on a world dance tour, meeting people from all over the world in cities as diverse as Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Dubai, having the time of their lives in the process.

Every girl dreams of becoming world-famous when they grow up. The new DSiWare “Dancing Academy” turns that dream into a reality. The player gets the unique chance to show her dance skills at a talent show. The dance performances are staged at venues around the world, including a barn in Dallas, an übercool London nightclub, a Chandigarh film studio or even a ballroom in St. Petersburg. At each performance, players have to convince the panel that they’re star material. But to reach the top flight of performance dancing players not only have to prove they can do the standard dance steps. Additional mini games test their advanced skills to come up with special moves to dazzle the panel with their abilities. Players use the Touchpen to tap the right move combination or scream into the microphone to make their virtual dancer do special jump moves. For each performance at the required standard, points and money are awarded, which can then be invested in new dance outfits such as a belly dancer costume or Goth-style clothing.

The Nintendo DSiWare “Dancing Academy” is now available for download:

Director of “The Tunnel”, Carlo Ledesma has been named as the Best Australian Director at this year’s A Night Of Horror Awards.

Following a news film crew’s journey into the city’s mysterious tunnels hunting for a story, “The Tunnel” sees the story turn on this investigative team made up of news producer, Peter Ferguson (Andy Rodoreda), TV journalist, Natasha Warner (Bel Delia) TV crew cameraman, Steve Miller (Steve Davis) and sound recordist, Jim ‘Tangles’ Williams (Luke Arnold). The film also stars Goran Kleut, Ben Maclaine and James Caitlin.

Since launching the $135k project, “The Tunnel” has continuously attracted worldwide attention for its unconventional funding and release model – Distracted Media’s producers, Enzo Tedeschi and Julian Harvey selected a crowd-funding model, raising the movie’s cash budget of $135,000 by selling each frame of the movie for $1 (based on a 90-minute film consisting of 135,000 individual frames). The Australian pair has also challenged traditional movie channel release models by opting to release “The Tunnel” via the controversial internet piracy networks in a bid to reach out to the increasingly dominant online audience. It has since been given a DVD release via Transmission Films and will release on DVD and online on May 19 2011 globally.
