BRISBANE, Queensland—April 27, 2011—EB Games, Australia’s largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced that over the next week they aim to raise a massive $370,000 to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised kids.
EB Games will be holding a national week of fundraising for the Starlight Children’s Foundation in their 372 stores nationwide and online at ebgames.com.au, where they aim to outdo last years result of $300,000 raised.
“We are now in our 4th year of the EB Games Starlight week event and it has become one of the biggest of its kind in Australia. This year we are asking people to put in an extra special effort and help us beat last years total of $300,000” Debra McGrath, EB Games National Brand and Marketing Manager stated.
Debra continued: “We understand that Australians have been asked to donate a lot this year, however we feel it’s vital that we continue to support charity’s like Starlight, so they can carry on the amazing work they do for seriously ill children.”
“The programs run by Starlight are able to reach kids everywhere from capital cities to the smallest outback town across Australia. For EB Games and our people, Starlight week represents a genuine opportunity for our team to give back to our local communities”.
Starlight Week couldn’t happen without the support of the local gaming industry and other partners such as EA, Ubisoft, Jay Jay’s, Microsoft, QV Software and Game Informer. “Our industry is all about having fun and enjoying life- this week gives us all a chance to give back. This year we have been able to assemble an amazing pool of 1000’s of prizes that we are giving away to people who support Starlight week” Debra stated.
