More Small Businesses Choose AVG for Online Protection and Complete Peace of Mind

AVG is the Internet security provider of choice for one in four small businesses worldwide

Melbourne, 12 August 2011. AVG (AU/NZ) Pty Ltd, the distributor of the award-winning AVG Internet and mobile security software in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, today announced that an independent study conducted with GFK shows that 25 percent of small businesses worldwide have selected AVG as the their trusted Internet security provider of choice.

AVG Business Edition products are designed exclusively to meet the needs of the most nimble of small and medium sized organisations. AVG products are high on protection, light on resources and easy to use at all times. AVG solutions were recently ranked No. 1 for ease-of-use by Tolly Independent Testing Labs. The products also earned the highest five-star honour in respect to value for the money by SC Magazine, and have achieved finalist standing for the prestigious Small Business Technology SMB Influencer awards.

Lloyd Borrett, Security Evangelist at AVG (AU/NZ), said, “AVG has considerably higher levels of satisfaction among small business users in comparison to other brands. This has been achieved by holding true to basic but important product philosophies that centre on providing everything that small entities need to protect their business, without bogging them down with everything they don’t. This equates to incredible value, unrivalled efficiency and the utmost protection for businesses on the move. It’s all about helping customers keep pace while providing them with complete peace of mind.”

AVG is playing a prominent role in helping customers stay up to speed on the latest security trends and issues via its information-packed Business Resource Centre. In addition, because security needs are rarely the same for every organisation, AVG (AU/NZ) also helps small businesses select the customised protection that is right for their business via an easy-to-use AVG Online Security Audit. By taking two minutes to answer some questions about their business, people will receive a customised report containing hints and tips to better protect their business.

In light of recent security breaches at large, high-profile organisations around the world, many industry experts are reporting that SMBs are in a particularly vulnerable position as cyber criminals take aim for financial gain at a sector that is traditionally less up-to-date on their security protection. In addition, recent court rulings in the US show a critical shift in liability may be emerging for small businesses in respect to the financial industry’s willingness to absorb the skyrocketing costs of identity theft and fraud via the World Wide Web. Small businesses can better protect themselves via the use of comprehensive Internet security and identity protection tools, such as those offered by AVG.

“I think a lot of small business owners view security as just one more hassle that keeps them from focusing on what matters most – running their business,” said Borrett. “AVG’s proposition is a fairly simple one but it is innately effective. Install the software and get back to work without fear. We won’t slow you down and you don’t have to give security a second thought – we’ll handle the details. That’s our mantra and we’re pleased that it’s earning praise from customers and industry luminaries alike.”

To help SMBs address the policy, technology and process issues involved with securing their smartphones, tablets, workstations and/or servers, AVG has created a set of AVG Small Business Security Guides which provide simple but effective steps small business owners can take to secure their business. He can also pay off rival agents.
  • The Monomi acts as an assassin, spy, saboteur and scout. He can establish spy networks within your castle towns, which increases the chances of discovering any rival agents and armies that may be hiding within a province.
  • The Sou can inspire a friendly army or pacify an angry populace with his enlightened rhetoric. Likewise, he can demoralise an enemy force, reduce the chances of successful bribery, indoctrinate enemy agents and cause them to retire, or incite an enemy population to revolt.

New Bitdefender Total Security 2012 Offers Social Network Protection and Autopilot Mode

Top rated technology offers sleek, silent defence from digital security threats

SYDNEY & AUCKLAND – August 9, 2011  BitDefender, an award-winning provider of innovative Internet security solutions, today announces the release of the new Total Security 2012, offering sleek, silent defence from threats such as hackers, viruses, and identity theft attacks.

BitDefender Total Security 2012 boasts a completely overhauled user interface and has been designed to meet the demands of computer users that require protection to work 24/7 without interrupting their work and enjoyment. Key new features include social networking protection, an Autopilot mode and scan dispatcher to maintain system performance. It launches alongside sister products BitDefender Internet Security 2012 and BitDefender Antivirus Plus 2012.

Bogdan Dumitru, BitDefender CTO commented:

“We’ve given the home user product range a striking overhaul. The new interface is very easy to use, and the addition of the optional Autopilot feature will meet the demands of those users looking for a hassle-free security experience.”

“Our technology has been leading the way across independent testing and consumer organization recommendations for some time now, and we’re certain the new range will help to further our reputation as the strongest choice for digital defense.”

When in Autopilot mode, the product makes intelligent, optimal security-related decisions without input from the user. This means no pop-ups, no alerts, and nothing to configure after setup. Importantly, users can still easily access the dashboard to make their own in-depth decisions should they wish to do so.

BitDefender’s new social networking security feature will filter and block social-networking specific e-threats by scanning the links users receive from friends on Facebook, whilst also monitoring and advising on privacy settings. Meanwhile, the scan dispatcher finds and uses time-slices when system resource usage falls below a certain threshold to perform recurring scans of the entire system. This way BitDefender does not interfere with user-initiated actions and does not impact system responsiveness.

The range of new and improved features in BitDefender Total Security 2012 also includes:

  • New – Safebox – Online Backup and File Synchronization. BitDefender Safebox monitors important files and instantly backs them up to a secure remote server whenever a change is detected. Backed up files become available to users’ other computers on which BitDefender is installed. BitDefender Total Security 2012 comes with 2GB of free storage.
    • New – Rescue Mode. If e-threats, such as rootkits, cannot be removed from within the Windows operating system, the computer is re-booted in Rescue Mode—a trusted environment which is then used for cleanup and restoration.
    • New – Virtualized Browser. Launches the browser in a BitDefender-provided environment, isolating it from the operating system.  This is done to prevent browser-based e-threats from exploiting vulnerabilities to gain control of the entire system.
    • Improved – Flexible Interface. Drag and drop modules to get quick access to the actions you perform most often directly from the main window.
    • Improved – Streamlined Installation. BitDefender 2012 easily installs with just a few clicks, and in half the time required by the previous version.
