AMD technology enables director of “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D Aromascope” to operate at the ‘speed of thought’
Sydney, Australia — Aug 19, 2011 — In the latest addition to the “Spy Kids” film franchise, “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D Aromascope,” released August 19 by Troublemaker Studios, director Robert Rodriguez delivers stunning 3D effects at the highest visual fidelity through the use of AMD Technology.
For movie fans, the collaboration between Robert Rodriguez and AMD means that viewers will experience the latest “Spy Kids” movie in the way Rodriguez meant for it to be seen, with brilliant graphics and outstanding visual effects. As part of the formal collaboration announced at Comic-Con International 2011, Rodriguez plans to use VISION Technology from AMD for his future Quick Draw Production projects.
For Robert Rodriguez and his team, a new personal best was achieved thanks to AMD technology – the majority of the film’s final shots were produced in-house without the need to rely on third-party production companies and on a shorter timeline than ever before. As with previous projects, such as “Machete” and prior “Spy Kids” films, Troublemaker Studios leveraged the powerful combination of AMD’s graphics and server technologies, including AMD FirePro™ professional graphics accelerators, 24-core AMD Opteron™ processor-based workstations and Dell PowerEdge™ servers, to make real-time artistic changes on the fly, allowing for an organic, streamlined creative process.
“The ‘Spy Kids’ movies have a history of innovation and of using the newest technologies available to push the boundaries of the viewer experience to new heights. When I set out to create the fourth chapter of the story, I wanted to deliver a visually compelling movie that would engage and delight audiences young and old,” said Robert Rodriguez. “For more than 10 years, AMD technology has consistently provided me with the quality, performance and support I need to bring to life the convergence of action-adventure storytelling and cutting-edge technology at the highest visual fidelity. AMD allows me to create quicker, composite faster and ultimately work at the speed of thought.”
“Robert Rodriguez’s creative wizardry and technological skill is difficult to rival, and together we are pushing the boundaries of the visual story-teller even further, delivering brilliant HD experiences for the viewers,” said Charlie Boswell, director of Digital Media and Entertainment at AMD. “With 24-core AMD Opteron™ 6000 series processors and AMD FirePro™ professional graphics solutions, Robert and his team have a film that sets a new bar for this franchise and the family-friendly action genre.”
AMD technology was integral to realizing Rodriguez’s vision for “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D Aromascope.” By leveraging the power of AMD products for record-breaking speed, Rodriguez’s team made use of a unique mix of high-performance AMD hardware, including AMD FirePro™ professional graphics accelerators, 24-core AMD Opteron™ processor-based workstations and Dell PowerEdge ™ servers to produce the film on a tight timeline. In eight months, the post-production team was able to finalize the film, exceeding their work on “Machete” and setting a new personal best for Rodriguez and his team.
Rodriguez has announced his plans to use VISION Technology from AMD in “Heavy Metal,” “Sin City 2,” “Fire & Ice” and other future film projects.

Korean Air jumbo jet pilot Captain Adam Hamedi claims he has never killed anyone in real life. But on paper—now that’s a different story!
Oak Point, Texas. August 17, 20011 – Austin Hunter, the protagonist of Wings of Vengeance, the debut action/adventure novel by Captain Adam Hamedi, proudly wears the pilot’s uniform, just like his creator, who works as a pilot for Korean Air. But the similarities soon diminish, as Hamedi’s main character, after suffering the devastating loss of his wife and daughter to a brutal rape and murder, develops an unquenchable thirst for exacting vengeance wherever it may be needed.
Wherever, indeed. As a respected airline pilot, Hamedi’s Hunter has the unique opportunity to travel around the globe, unsuspected and undetected. And with assistance on the inside from a Texas lawman who helps him cover his tracks, he mixes business travel with his personal pleasure of ridding the world of conscience-deprived thugs like those who killed his own family.
“As an avid reader of action/adventure fiction by the likes of Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum, I wondered why no one had ever written a story featuring an airline pilot as an assassin,” says Hamedi. “With the ability to travel far and wide, and the respect of the community, it seemed like a perfect match up.” And so Hamedi decided to give it a try, and by all accounts has succeeded with his debut novel.
In addition to his years of globetrotting in the captain’s seat for various airlines, Hamedi brings an unusually unique and broad perspective to his fiction. Born in Ghana to Lebanese parents, Hamedi was sent to live with his grandparents in Lebanon at the age of eleven months. At the age of six, he was placed in a boarding school in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli. Later, Hamedi attended the University of Egypt at Cairo, moved to Texas, where he met his wife, and moved his family around for years, living in Anchorage, Tokyo, Bangkok, Cyprus, and eventually settling down in Oak Point, Texas. The experience of vastly different peoples, places and cultures informs Hamedi’s storytelling, helping him bring his tale to life.
Also impressive, Hamedi’s first language is Lebanese, yet he writes in English cleanly and fluidly, avoiding awkward phrasing and obvious grammatical mistakes.
“Like many people, I’ve often dreamed up scenarios of action and adventure. But I’d never actually written anything because I thought I wasn’t a writer,” confesses Hamedi. “I hope people will realize that if an immigrant to this country whose first language is not English can do what I’ve done, then they will develop the confidence to embark on their own projects, whatever they may be,” he adds.
“Although we share some similarities, Austin Hunter is not my alter ego. I promise, I’m not a violent assassin,” assures Hamedi with a smile. “I love my wife and daughter, my job and my otherwise quiet and peaceful life in Oak Point, Texas. I just had a story inside of me that I wanted to share,” concludes the author.
With personal belongings stowed, tray tables up, belts fastened, and seats in full upright position, readers will enjoy accompanying Austin Hunter on a suspense-filled whirlwind trip, making stops in Amsterdam, Boston, Lebanon, London and Texas. Whether you have any upcoming travel plans or not, Adam Hamedi’s Wings of Vengeance is the perfect page-turner to help you escape the heat of the summer for a few enjoyable hours.
Wings of Vengeance is published in hardcover by Hamedi Publishing, and in e-book format by eBookIt.com. The novel is available through several popular online retailers, including Amazon.com and BN.com. Hamedi has also written a follow-up to his first novel, entitled Maximum Reach, which picks up where the first novel leaves off. Maximum Reach is available exclusively in e-book format from eBookIt.com.
Author Adam Hamedi is available for interviews. Book reviewers may request a review copy of the e-book by contacting the author.
Paris Hilton has reportedly misplaced two mobile devices during her travels this week. Hilton is rightfully alarmed, as anyone finding the devices is potentially capable of easy access to her private information and contacts.
This isn’t Hilton’s first brush with mobile insecurity. In 2005, her mobile device was hacked and the contact info for her friends and family posted on the Internet.
Hilton’s high profile loss reminds us that a solution like Norton Mobile Security, which can locate, wipe and lock your Android smartphone can come in handy. While the average person’s mobile device may not be a gateway to the rich and famous, it likely contains critical passwords, direct access to bank accounts and social networks, social security numbers, private messages and other privileged information.
Moreover, according to Internet security leader Norton, malware and scams directed at mobile platforms have significantly increased within the past year.
Mobile device users need to protect themselves from the threats of hackers or lost critical personal information by following a few simple tips from Norton:
Consider mobile security software, such as Norton Mobile Security, which can remotely lock, wipe or locate a lost Android device, and scans mobile apps to check if they are malicious.
Always password protect or screen lock your mobile device in case it is lost or stolen
Use common sense when accepting application permission requests to ensure they match the application features
Be safe and smart when surfing the Web on your smartphone, tablet or PC by using a Web filtering service like Norton DNS
While your mobile device may feel “glued” to you, it’s one momentary lapse away from the sticky hands of others. One in three adults have faced mobile phone loss, and it’s a frustrating experience that can be eliminated and replaced with peace of mind by taking a few easy steps to stay protected.
