LOST PLANET 3 MULTIPLAYER DETAILS REVEALED

The extreme, uninhabitable conditions of E.D.N. III in Lost Planet 3 might make the planet seem like a lonely place to be but today Capcom is pleased to reveal details of the title’s multiplayer content.

Featuring four compelling multiplayer modes playable across six diverse maps, gamers will take on the role of either the NEVEC forces or Snow Pirates.

To take a look at two of these modes – Scenario and Akrid Survival – head over to the Capcom press site and download the all-new multiplayer trailer along with an assortment of multiplayer and single-player campaign screens and artwork.

Scenario Mode sets each team a series of either offensive or defensive challenges and mixes them up with the extreme and unpredictable conditions of E.D.N. III. Players can compete in both third person on-foot action and in first person combat using the futuristic Vital Suits, making this a dynamic gameplay experience.

Akrid Survival sees two teams of three players compete independently of each other in a series of encounters against waves of hostile Akrid before the teams go head to head in a final PvP elimination round

Lost Planet 3 will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on August 29th and is being distributed in Australia and New Zealand by All Interactive Entertainment.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops II Uprising DLC Map Pack Coming to PlayStation®3 and Windows PC fans on 17 May

Beginning 17 May, PlayStation®3 and Windows PC players will have the opportunity to play Uprising, Activision and Treyarch’s second epic DLC Map Pack for the record-breaking Call of Duty®: Black Ops II. Uprising includes four new multiplayer maps, plus “Mob of the Dead,” a bone-chilling new Zombies experience that takes players to the notorious prison island of Alcatraz. Several of Hollywood’s most iconic actors round out the cast of Prohibition-era mobsters, including Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Chazz Palminteri, and Joe Pantoliano to bring this horrifying adventure to life.

Following the tradition of the original Call of Duty®: Black Ops fan-favorite Zombies mode “Call of the Dead,” Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising’s wildly creative new “Mob of the Dead” Zombies experience puts players on the island of Alcatraz, in the shoes of four Prohibition-era mobsters: Billy Handsome (Liotta), Al “The Weasel” Arlington (Pantoliano), Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca (Palminteri), and Michael “Finn” O’Leary (Madsen). All four are serving time in Alcatraz Prison, only to discover that being behind bars is the least of their problems. In order to survive, players must work their way through the steel cells and aging concrete buildings while fighting off a multitude of zombified prisoners and guards trapped on the island with them.

Uprising also debuts four new diverse multiplayer maps, each set around the globe:

  • Magma – Set within a modern Japanese village, volcanic eruptions carve multiple paths throughout the town.
  • Encore – Taking place in the aftermath of a deserted London music festival, Encore leaves numerous opportunities for run-and-gun, close quarters combat.
  • Vertigo – A futuristic high-rise mega-structure located in India featuring dizzying vistas and multi-tiered pathways.
  • Studio – A contemporary re-imagining of “Firing Range,” the fan-favorite multiplayer map from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.  “Studio” is a Hollywood movie back lot with a variety of cinematic themes that range from Sci-Fi to the Old West.

Fans can purchase Uprising as a standalone Map Pack for a suggested retail price of $20.95. Call of Duty: Black Ops II game sold separately, and is required to play this Map Pack.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

As TMNT: Out of the Shadows prepares to launch later this year for Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network, Activision Publishing, Inc. and Red Fly Studios are shining a light on each of the varied personas that make up this formidable team of half-shell heroes. Today’s trailer goes behind the bandana of the Turtles’ youngest, most agile member: Michelangelo.

Always ready with a punch and a punch line, the orange-draped Michelangelo puts a literal spin on the phrase “party animal.” He’s a fun-loving foodie with an appetite for goofing off instead of training. But despite his light-hearted tone and distaste for confrontation, Mikey is no less committed to the cause than his older brothers, whom he looks up to as role models.

True to his energetic and light personality, the nunchaku-wielding Michelangelo possesses by far the highest attack speed of any of his Turtle brethren, but also the lowest single target damage rating, standing in stark contrast to the more balanced stats of Leonardo. Mikey relies on his ability to evade damage and quickly build up combos and special moves to take down foes before they can return the favour.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified – re-announcement and shiny new trailer

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Available 23rd August
in Australia and New Zealand

Call the shots, pull the trigger, and erase the truth in the origin story of XCOM

Sydney, Australia – 26th April, 2013 2K and 2K Marin, makers of BioShock® 2, announced today that The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be released on 20th August, 2013 in North America and 23rd August, 2013 internationally for AUD$89.95 SRP on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and for AUD$79.95 on Windows PC. XCOM: Enemy Unknown, developed by Firaxis Games, dazzled turn-based strategy fans and rebooted the classic franchise. Now The Bureau will deliver a new experience within the XCOM universe.

Set in 1962 at the height of the Cold War, The Bureau tells the origin story of the clandestine XCOM organization’s first encounter with a mysterious and devastating enemy. Originally established as America’s covert defense against the Soviet Union, The Bureau must adapt and overcome a threat unlike anything the world has faced before. As special agent William Carter, players will call the shots and pull the trigger, leading their squad of agents in the high-stakes secret war for humanity’s survival. Paramount to repelling the outside threat is The Bureau’s ability to cover-up the enemy’s existence in order to prevent worldwide panic.

“We’re thrilled about 2K Marin’s refined vision for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “The game has evolved through a creative and iterative development process, and the result is a narrative-driven experience that is smart, engaging, and challenges players to think tactically.”

The Bureau tells the story of XCOM’s mysterious beginnings,” said Morgan Gray, creative director at 2K Marin. “We’re expanding the universe with a declassified tale of government conspiracy and heroic cover-ups told through third-person tactical gameplay.”

In the spirit of the XCOM franchise, The Bureau’s calculated combat design requires players to think and act tactically. The game’s third-person perspective gives the player a sense of spatial awareness and grants them the freedom to transition in and out Carter’s unique Battle Focus ability seamlessly – heightening the tactical shooter action. The Bureau also fully embraces the concept of permanent consequence. As our last line of defense, every command can mean the difference between life and death for Carter, his squad and mankind.

“The team has been working hard to leverage core XCOM elements like tactical decision-making and permanent death of squad mates in a purposeful way that makes this a unique tactical shooter,” added Gray. “To that end, The Bureau will challenge players unlike any other third-person tactical shooter.”

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified can be pre-ordered today at all participating retailers. Those who pre-order will receive the Codebreakers side-mission as a bonus. In this special campaign side-mission, a communications facility responsible for intercepting and interpreting the enemy’s transmissions has gone dark. Special Agent Carter and his squad must make contact with any remaining personnel and investigate the incident.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is not yet rated by the OFLC. For more information, please visit Facebook, or the official web site: http://erasethetruth.com.

2K Marin is a 2K studio. 2K is a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO).

MCAFEE MOBILE SECURITY RECEIVES HIGHEST RANK ON ANDROID

mobile security lab REport by av-Test

McAfee Mobile Security Enhances Privacy Protection, Offers Flexibility with Monthly Subscription Option

SYDNEY, Australia, 24 April 2013 – McAfee® Mobile Security received the highest score on the most recent mobile security test by independent testing lab AV-Test putting it at the top of the list of 26 security companies included in the report. In addition, McAfee is announcing that McAfee Mobile Security has been updated with new privacy controls and the option for a monthly subscription for Android smartphone and tablet users.

Mobile devices have become an increasingly attractive target for cybercriminals who are now going to great lengths to insert infected apps into trusted sources such as Google Play. According to the recently released Mobile Security: McAfee Consumer Trends Report, the average consumer has a one in six chance of downloading a risky app. The newly released AV-Test results demonstrate the commitment McAfee has toward providing consumers with the most comprehensive security and privacy solution on the market.

McAfee Mobile Security scored 100 per cent, or a perfect score of 13 out of 13, across the four different areas tested. For example:

  • Android Malware Detection Rate: McAfee Mobile Security detected all samples and malware families in the test.
  • False Positives: Zero false positives were reported.
  • Power Consumption: McAfee Mobile Security does not reduce the battery life of a device.
  • CPU Consumption: McAfee Mobile Security does not slow down the device during normal usage.

The newly enhanced version of McAfee Mobile Security offers flexibility with a monthly subscription option and is designed to combat the privacy threats associated with risky apps.  It is now equipped with the most robust privacy protection technology available to consumers and is the only security solution that not only scans app permissions, but also checks apps for associations with risky URLs. It also offers App Lock, which allows Android users to protect installed apps against misuse by locking them with the same PIN that’s tied to their McAfee Mobile Security account.

“The privacy issues associated with apps are confusing and endless – a single Android app can ask for over 100 different types of permissions,” said Ari Jaaksi, senior vice president and general manager, mobile engineering and operations at McAfee. “We want to make sure that consumers don’t have to keep up with the sophisticated techniques of today’s cybercriminals. As demonstrated by our perfect score in the AV-Test mobile security report, McAfee does the work, so that our users aren’t leaving a trail of personal information or data for hackers to dig into.”

Over 100 Mobile Worldwide Partners
McAfee Mobile Security has reached over three million downloads in the Google Play store and is available in over 30 languages to users across the globe. To date, McAfee has signed close to 100 mobile partnerships, including Verizon, Sprint, Airtel, Vodafone, NTT Docomo and SoftBank Mobile. McAfee is also working closely with Intel to expand its presence across emerging platforms and markets so that mobile users everywhere can enjoy the robust privacy protection features offered by McAfee Mobile Security and recently launched with Safaricom in Kenya.
