Bose release the Lifestyle® 135 and CineMate® 1 SR

Sydney Australia – October 6 2011

Bose have launched two new speaker products for the Australian and International arenas with the Bose Lifestyle® 135 ($3,699) and Bose CineMate® 1 SR ($2,199), the perfect complement for flat screen televisions that not only boast the Bose quality of sound but also the simplicity and style that this company is well known for.

These speaker systems have been dubbed as soundbar systems due to the long design of the product which contains all the speakers in one neat looking product to enhance your home theatre experience. The products also come with a wireless Acoustimass® module that can be placed in any part of the room.

The technology employed the Lifestyle® 135 system and CineMate® 1 SR is based on the same engineering from the VideoWave® entertainment system which combined the speakers into the television itself. Thus, using the PhaseGuide sound radiator technology with the proprietary TrueSpace® digital processing circuitry, it gives the illusion of having speakers located in all parts of your room.

This works through the Bose® ADAPTiQ® audio calibration technology which allows the speakers to optimise themselves for any room, no matter what the shape or what furniture is in the room. The demonstration movie was How to train your Dragon and the sound quality was extremely impressive, giving this true home theatre experience and dare I say, it even put a few cinemas to shame.

Both products produced unparalled sound quality and the major difference between products is that CineMate® 1 SR connects directly to the TV, whereas the Lifestyle® 135 includes a media console which allows up to six HD sources.

Unlike many soundbar systems available now, the Lifestyle® 135 and CineMate® 1 SR has been designed to be extremely slim yet through the patented technologies, the sound quality is quite impressive.

In terms of wiring, the peripherals need to be powered to work wirelesslessly which is a definitely a small price to pay, especially in relation to the other option of a myriad of wires.

For ease of connectivity and minimal user input, the CineMate® 1 SR is for those users who want a good home theatre sound experience with perhaps a TV and a Blu-ray player, whereas theLifestyle® 135 system comes with an impressive media console that as mentioned, allows six HD sources such as HDMI, AV/FM tuner and iPhone/iPod dock. Another highlight is that both items come with a programmable remote that controls your system from one easy remote.

Bose Lifestyle® 135 Features

  • Wide, spacious home theater sound – made possible by an exclusive Bose® innovation.
  • Consists of a single, visible speaker and a hideaway, wireless Acoustimass® module, making it easy to set up and enjoy right away.
  • Easily connects to and controls additional sources, such as a Blu-ray Disc™ player, with exclusive Bose Unify® technology.
  • Customizes its sound to the size and shape of the room it’s in – made possible by the proprietary ADAPTiQ® audio calibration system.
  • The elegant speaker array visually complements a flat-screen television – whether wall-mounted or placed on a table.
  • A wireless link to the Acoustimass® module helps to ensure an uncluttered appearance in the room.
  • Dock for iPod/iPhone and built-in AM/FM tuner provide greater options for enjoying music.
  • Works with other Bose speakers and systems to deliver sound throughout the home with Bose link technology.
  • Includes four HDMI inputs – with full 3D compatibility.

Bose CineMate® 1 SR Features

  • Wide, spacious home theater sound – made possible by an exclusive Bose® innovation.
  • Consists of a single, visible speaker and a hideaway, wireless Acoustimass® module, making it easy to set up and enjoy right away.
  • Customise its sound to the size and shape of the room its in – made possible by the proprietary ADAPTiQ® audio calibration system
  • The elegant speaker array visually complements a flat-screen television – whether wall-mounted or placed on table.
  • A wireless link to the Acoustimass® module helps to ensure an uncluttered appearance in the room.
  •  A programmable IR remote simplifies the entertainment experience by replacing multiple remotes

It should be noted that the designs of both products have been created to compliment your TV and to be quite minimalistic, whether attached to your wall or on your TV cabinet. If you cannot attach the product to your wall, Bose have ingeniously allowed the speaker system to lie flat on your TV cabinet which recalculates the position of the speaker, producing the same quality as if it was standing up.

Once again Bose continue to redefine not only sound quality but how we view, access and listen to our home entertainment systems and the Bose Lifestyle® 135 are Bose CineMate® 1 SR are two products that do this.

Bose release SoundLink® Wireless Mobile Speakers

Sydney Australia – October 6 2011

At a presentation to the media, Bose unveiled three new products for the Australian and International markets that included the SoundLink® Wireless Mobile Speaker, the Cinemate 1 SR and the Lifestyle 135.

The first product on display was the SoundLink® Wireless Mobile Speaker which is a portable speaker designed for not just convenience but also quality, thanks to Bluetooth.

More importantly, it is a highly durable product that due to the portable nature of the speaker system, it can definitely take its fair share of accidents should the unthinkable happen. With that said, Bose have even tested the product again Mother Nature as well such as salt-fog, sand and moisture.

It’s the perfect speaker for a party, beach trip or virtually anywhere in the world!

In essence the SoundLink® Wireless Mobile Speaker allows any Bluetooth enabled device be connected easily to a myriad of Bluetooth devices such as iPhones, Android Tablets or various mobile phones.

The goal of Bose was to create a portable product that enhanced the music experienced on these devices as the innate speakers of Bluetooth devices are not generally known for quality.

Another highlight of the SoundLink® is that it keeps the last 6 pairings in memory, so once a Bluetooth product has been connected, it stays in memory.

In terms of appearance, the SoundLink® Wireless Mobile Speaker is quite light and comes in a variety of covers that include leather (burgundy/tan) or nylon (red/purple) and weighs at 1.3kgs. So no matter what your personal fashion taste, there is definitely a case and colour to suit your style.

As this is a mobile product, the SoundLink® contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which lasts around eight hours at normal listening levels. Bose did inform us that if the unit is used at high volume, it will last 3 hours.

In relation to costs, the SoundLink® with standard trimming (nylon) retails for $449AUD and the LX model retails for $499AUD with premium trims (leather).

Another featureof the product is that the cases can be replaced over time and by closing the case, it in turn powers the SoundLink® off and protects the speaker system. By opening up the case, the device turns on and the lid also acts as a stand.

The speaker also has six buttons on it that include power, AUX, Bluetooth  Pairing, Mute and two buttons for volume. But the real question is, what about quality?

With its book-like size, you may be dubious in the quality of sound produced by this item, however during the presentation, Bose managed to reproduce full-range audio from such a small product.

This was achieved by combining four low-profile neodymium transducers (high/midrange frequencies) and a patented waffle shaped surround (rich, deep and low notes). Additionally, the radiators inside the SoundLink® unit remove the vibration and used this energy for improved acoustics. The results definitely spoke for themselves.

In terms of range, the SoundLink® will work in a 10metre radius with no quality loss whatsoever, so while you listen to music anywhere and anyplace, you can still use the smart features of your phone.

Final Thoughts?

For those seeking high quality portable speakers with all the bells and whistles, users should check out their nearest Bose retailer for SoundLink® and it’s definitely a fashion accessory!

Imperva Introduces Data Security for Microsoft SharePoint

SecureSphere for SharePoint protects sensitive information from data leaks, security threats

Sydney – (October 7, 2011) – Imperva, a pioneer and leader of a new category of data security solutions for high-value business data in the data center, announced today the availability of SecureSphere for SharePoint, its new data security solution to help businesses protect sensitive data stored in Microsoft SharePoint. As part of Imperva’s cornerstone data security suite, SecureSphere for SharePoint addresses the unique security requirements of SharePoint’s file, web and database infrastructure, giving businesses visibility and analysis of data access and safeguarding that only users with a legitimate business need have access to data.

SharePoint is a widely-deployed enterprise collaboration tool.  Although collaboration with SharePoint increases the value organizations get from their unstructured data, protecting broadly accessible SharePoint data from internal and external threats is an ongoing challenge. User access rights to SharePoint data often do not align with business needs, leaving sensitive data vulnerable, and extranet and public-facing SharePoint web sites face traditional web-based threats and hackers.

“While we might have a fairly good handle on structured data in databases, we don’t have this same knowledge about what’s in our file shares and in our collaboration systems,” said Neil MacDonald, VP & Gartner Fellow. “To securely enable the sharing of sensitive information via collaboration, we first need to understand what is being shared, how and when it is being shared and with whom it is being shared. However, most organizations don’t have this level of visibility, creating a significant security blind spot.”

SecureSphere for SharePoint features include:

  • Access Rights Visibility, Audit Trail & Policy Control: Aggregate and consolidate user rights across SharePoint sites, files and folders; continuously monitor file activity and respond when data access deviates from corporate policy.

  • Data Owner & Stale Data Identification: Use file and folder access patterns to identify data owners and provides better compliance with security standards; identify and archive or delete data stored in SharePoint that is not being used, reducing management overhead and increasing available data storage.

  • Web Application & Database Security Protection: Protect SharePoint against current and future online security threats such as SQL injection; monitor and/or block access to SharePoint’s Microsoft SQL database to limit access to users with a legitimate data use.

“Microsoft SharePoint offers businesses great value as a collaboration tool, but presents a unique challenge when it comes to securing corporate data,” said Amichai Shulman, Imperva’s CTO. “Without the appropriate security controls in place, SharePoint users run the risk of leaking sensitive information or opening themselves to online attacks. Imperva’s SecureSphere for SharePoint offers deep visibility and control over data access within SharePoint, as well as protection against web-based security threats.”

SecureSphere for SharePoint will be available in late 2011.  More product information is available at:  http://www.imperva.com/products/fsc_sharepoint.html.

In addition, Imperva announced the release of the SecureSphere Operations Manager (SOM), a multi-domain management solution that dramatically improves the operational efficiency of managing SecureSphere deployments with multiple MX Management Servers. SOM meets the operational scalability demands of large enterprises and Managed Security Service Providers by consolidating the management, visibility and reporting across multiple SecureSphere MX Management Servers, and provides system wide health metrics and statistics.  With SOM, customers can:

  • Manage multi-domain or multi-tenant environments efficiently
  • Increase operational efficiency
  • Simplify system wide analysis and reporting
