CONTINUE THE DEBATE… GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM – SERIES 2, COMING SOON TO DVD.
MELBOURNE, Tuesday, 25 September 2012: SBS DVD and Madman Entertainment proudly present the year’s most confronting TV series, Go Back To Where You Came From – Series 2, available on DVD November 7, 2012 ($29.95srp).
Last year, SBS sent six ordinary Australians on a grueling and confronting 25-day journey to experience the reality of refugee life. The resulting program, Go Back to Where You Came From, was a broadcast sensation – sparking widespread national debate amongst the general public and the media alike on refugee and asylum seeker issues.
Broadcast over three riveting nights in late August, Go Back To Where You Came From – Series 2 once again stoked the fires, this time featuring six prominent Australians from fields across politics and the media – Angry Anderson, rock musician and conservative political activist; Peter Reith, former Howard Government senior cabinet minister; Imogen Bailey, actress and animal rights activist; Allan Asher, former Ombudsman; Catherine Deveny, writer and comedian; and Michael Smith, former radio shock jock.
Each of the Series 2 participants has a unique connection to the debate, and subsequently, strong and sometimes outspoken views on refugees and asylum seekers. Travelling to some of the world’s most dangerous cities and desperate places, the participants challenge their strongly held beliefs – and each other – as they experience a life-changing journey and learn to see the world through the eyes of refugees.
Both series of Go Back To Where You Came From also feature as leading titles in ‘Stories That Matter’ (www.madman.com.au/storiesthatmatter), a new catalogue of important SBS DVDs that will inform, challenge and inspire. Including locally produced, breakthrough programs such as Once Upon A Time In Cabramatta, Immigration Nation: The Secret History Of Us and First Australians. Also including a host of international titles, these bold stories that matter feature exceptional production values and riveting storytelling, whilst broaching a wide range of vital and challenging issues. Quite simply, these are stories that every Australian should see.
Go Back To Where You Came From – Series 2 will be available on DVD from November 7, 2012 ($29.95srp).
