TOTAL WAR™ LIVES THE LEGEND

Thursday 20th August 2009 – SEGA Europe Ltd. and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced Napoleon: Total War, the first in an all-new story driven branch of The Creative Assembly’s multi award winning Total War RTS franchise. Napoleon: Total War will keep the franchise’s genre-leading 3D battles on land and sea. The turn-based campaign is split into three different story-driven campaigns, telling the story of the rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte through his most famous battles.

In Napoleon: Total War, aspiring generals have the chance to play as the legendary French general Napoleon Bonaparte or as one of his opposing factions. Battling through his three biggest military campaigns, the game will take you through Italy and Egypt, narrating the early years of the fearsome commander, while the third campaign will tell the story of his fateful drive towards Moscow and, ultimately, his showdown with the Duke of Wellington at one of the most famous battles of all – The Battle of Waterloo.

“In Napoleon: Total War you get to actually be Napoleon – to face the problems he faced, to win the battles he won, and to build the Empire he built. Or better,” commented Mike Simpson, Creative Director at The Creative Assembly and father of the Total War franchise. “However, the game allows you to step in the shoes of his opposing generals as well, allowing the player to rewrite history as they see fit.”

Napoleon: Total War expands on the successful Total War series by taking all the features from previous games such as the full 3D land and naval battles, the detailed campaign map, and an in depth diplomacy system and taking them a step further.

Napoleon: Total War hits shelves in February 2010.

SECTION 8™ REVEALS NEW X SERVER FOR THE XBOX 360®

– August 19, 2009– Section 8™ developer TimeGate Studios, along with publisher SouthPeak Games, is set to break new ground on the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment platform from Microsoft® by launching X Server, an option for players to run their own dedicated servers. The X Server can handle up to 32 players at once, resulting in one of the largest multiplayer games currently available on the system. Meanwhile, PC users can also run servers that allow for up to 64 players online.

More information and availability of the X Server software will be available at launch on www.joinsection8.com.

This added functionality is by no means necessary to enjoy the game, but adds an extra layer to the multiplayer experience. Without dedicated servers, Section 8 caters for 32 players on PC and 16 on Xbox 360.

“We want to give FPS fans an intense multiplayer experience when they’re playing online, so the addition of dedicated servers and X servers is absolutely key to our strategy,” said Richard Iggo, VP of Marketing at SouthPeak. “We’re confident that Section 8 will provide incredible team-based combat unlike anything else out there.”

IL-2 STURMOVIK: BIRDS OF PREY DEMO SWOOPS ONTO PLAYSTATION NETWORK

Milton Keynes, 22nd August 2009 – 505 Games in collaboration with 1C Company have released the PlayStation®3 single player demo for upcoming flight combat title IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey. Gaijin Entertainment’s eagerly anticipated WWII aerial combat title is now available to download from PlayStation Network with the full release hitting Australian shelves on Thursday 3rd September.

The IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey demo will give players a taste of two of the game’s memorable conflict scenarios, The Battle of Britain and The Battle of the Bulge.

In Battle of Britain: Red Skies Over Dover, players are given the role of an RAF pilot commanding the legendary Mk. II Spitfire with B wing armament (two canons, four machine guns). What starts off as a routine ‘mopping up’ mission on a few stray He-111 German bombers soon develops into a fracas in which the RAF faced their finest hour. The mission demonstrates the skills required to intercept larger bombers as well as the more nimble Stuka bombers. The effective use of wingmen will become apparent as the mission unfolds and survivors will have the opportunity to land on a home airstrip.

In Battle of the Bulge: Tiger Hunt, the US Air Force P-51D Mustang is the weapon of choice as players are invited to pick off some German armour ploughing through the Ardennes. Defending FW-190 fighters will also have to be dispatched; although the Tigers are the primary target as US forces aim to stem the German advance and defend the front line. The mission will allow players to try rocket attacks on ground targets as well as sample the snow capped vistas of the December Belgian landscape.

Based around large-scale aerial combat over the ground-based military operations of World War II, variety is at the heart of the action in IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. Players participate in the most famous confrontations of the era piloting fighters, battle planes or heavy bombers across a range of missions. There are six theatres of war in which to engage – The Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily, the Battle of the Bulge and Korsun – representing the main airborne battles of World War II in Europe.

As well as taking environmental and landscape visuals to new heights by incorporating satellite technology, IL-2 also boasts a tangible damage effects engine. Players will see real-time damage to the aircraft such as holes in the wings and trail lines during dogfights. IL-2 will support up to 16 players in multiplayer aerial combat set across 4 scenarios – Dogfight, Team Battle, Strike and Capture the Airfield.

IL2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey will be published by 505 Games in collaboration with 1C Company on 3rd September 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3, DS and PSP. For the latest information visit the official website at www.il2game.com or follow on Twitter http://twitter.com/IL2BirdsOfPrey
