Intel® Anti-Theft service available on Ultrabook™ devices at Dick Smith

Sydney, Australia, October 28 2011– Dick Smith in collaboration with Intel Australia today announced the launch of Intel Anti-theft Service on Ultrabook systems. The service uses Intel Anti-Theft Technology as its foundation, letting people remotely lock the laptop if it’s lost or stolen. Additionally, this service helps create a secure data vault upon service activation where private files can be encrypted and stored.

“With increased mobility and the ease of carrying Ultrabook devices, users around the world face increased risks of theft or loss of device and data. Loss of personal data can be detrimental, expensive and in some cases emotional,” said Anand Pashupathy, General Manager Intel’s Anti-Theft Services. “We are excited to globally collaborate with PC retailers such as Dick Smith to make this security service available for Ultrabook device users.”

Intel Anti-Theft Service takes advantage of intelligent hardware to lock down a lost or stolen laptop. It works even if a thief reimages their hard drive, installs a new hard drive, changes the boot order or avoids connecting to the network.  A lost or stolen laptop can be locked-down so that it does not boot by sending a notification over the internet or by using intelligent hardware timers on the laptop. Laptop owners can display a custom message on locked laptops facilitating return by good Samaritans and can revive the laptop to its full functionality by using their personal password.

“We are proud to be the first retailer in Australia to offer the Intel Anti-Theft Service that will provide our customers with an opportunity to safeguard their Ultrabook systems,” said Debra Singh, General Manager, Dick Smith. “Protecting users’ sensitive information, as well as the laptops themselves is paramount.”

Dick Smith has worked with Intel to provide this service to its customers buying Ultrabook™ systems powered by the 2nd Generation Intel Core processor, from Dick Smith stores from November 9th 2011.

Taking full advantage of Kinect for Xbox 360, Steel Battalion™ Heavy Armor is an Xbox 360 exclusive first person action game set to deliver a uniquely immersive experience and an evolution in warfare gaming. A new trailer highlighting the innovative dual control system is now available for download on the press centre. 

Steel Battalion Heavy Armor delivers an unprecedented level of control and interaction. Movement of the Vertical Tank (VT), aiming and firing of the main guns are undertaken using the Xbox 360 controller. A wide variety of other combat-crucial actions are done through Kinect for Xbox 360 with upper body gestures – from starting the engine to operating the scope or manning the turret-mounted machine gun. Kinect for Xbox 360 also provides a means of interacting with your fellow crew members, from ensuring a panicked crew member stays focused, to a high five for successfully completing a mission.

 Set in 2082, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor depicts a world devoid of semiconductors, where war is waged with rudimentary weapons as new superpowers struggle for dominance. In a twist of fate, the U.S. army has been forced to begin major landing operations on what was once its own soil. In this low-tech era, there is one weapon class that will determine the course of the war – the Vertical Tank. Playing as pilot Lt. Powers players control one such VT as he embarks on a mission that will see the action shift from North America to battlefields and war-torn streets across the globe.

[New Video] Batman: Arkham City – Nightwing Trailer

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released a new Batman: Arkham City trailer showcasing content from the upcoming Nightwing Bundle Pack, which will be available beginning November 2 on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace and PlayStation® Network.

Featuring the intense melee skills of Nightwing, a.k.a Dick Grayson, the trailer showcases the character’s punishing arsenal of fighting moves that can be used against Arkham City’s hardened thugs. Nightwing comes complete with his own unique gadgets and special moves, and is playable in all challenge maps in the game, as well as two additional challenge maps that are included with the pack: Wayne Manor and Main Hall. The pack also contains a bonus Animated Series Nightwing character skin.

The Nightwing Bundle Pack will be available November 2 on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for 560 Microsoft Points and PlayStation®Network for $11.45. The Robin Bundle Pack will also become available on November 23 to all owners of the game for the same price.
