Square Enix and Microsoft Collaborate to bring Exclusive Weapon Downloadable Content to Xbox 360 version of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2

SYDNEY (22nd December, 2011)Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in Europe and across PAL territories, today announced that a new piece of downloadable content (DLC) is to be made available for FINAL FANTASY® XIII-2. The new DLC, a bow weapon for Serah called “Azrael”, has been created through collaboration between Square Enix and Microsoft, and will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360® version of the game and entertainment system from Microsoft on 8th February 2012, in Australia, New Zealand, and PAL territories.

TEKKEN™ 3D PRIME EDITION

Nintendo Australia confirms that it will be releasing TEKKEN™ 3D PRIME EDITION exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in late February 2012 (date TBC).

TEKKEN 3D PRIME EDITION for Nintendo 3DS will see the famous King of Iron Fist Tournament fought in 3D for the first time, with the unique functionality of the Nintendo 3DS delivering a more realistic and dynamic TEKKEN™ experience. Players will choose from a selection of more than 40 characters and do battle on totally new stages alongside others redesigned especially for Nintendo 3DS. TEKKEN 3D PRIME EDITION will make the most of the Wi-Fi functionality of the Nintendo 3DS, and deliver fast-paced dynamic battles with impressive graphics running at a high frame rate.

For the first time on Nintendo 3DS, a full-length CG movie will be available on the game cartridge. TEKKEN Blood Vengeance is produced by Digital Frontier (Resident Evil: Degeneration, Death Note, Appleseed) and directed by Youichi Mouri (opening movies for TEKKEN 5 and TEKKEN 6: Bloodline Rebellion). Eight Famous Faces Now Playable in Resident Evil: Operations Raccoon City Heroes Mode

Today we’re pleased to confirm Heroes Mode, another of the online competitive multiplayer modes for our upcoming third person team based shooter Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City.  

In Heroes Mode players will be able to compete in four vs. four with classic Resident Evil characters including Leon. S Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Hunk and Ada Wong. Players will either assume the role of the good or bad guys and compete against each other in a battle for survival. But it’s not that simple. Adding a twist to the traditional TPS gameplay players will need to not only defeat the opposing team but also zombies and B.O.W’s delivering a compelling triple threat battle.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 23rd across Australia and New Zealand with the PC version to follow.

New Info on Street Fighter X Tekken GEM system

Capcom today shared new information and assets regarding the innovative GEM system in the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken game for PS3, Xbox 360, Vita and PC. A brand new feature that combines customization with strategy, the GEMs add an extra level of depth and provide a pioneering way to experience fighting games.
 
A total of 57 GEMs (5 Assist and 52 Boost) come standard in Street Fighter X Tekken. Players have the ability to equip three different GEMs that improve upon weaknesses or capitalize on strengths to enhance their inherent play style. The two types of GEMs, Assist and Boost, each have specific advantages and disadvantages.
 
Players can select any combination of the Assist GEMs, which provide helpful bonuses that are always activated but balanced by handicaps in other areas. Conversely, Boost GEMs provide a stat increase in one of five areas (attack, defence, speed, cross gauge, vitality) but require a specific condition to be met in order to be activated. As an example, a particular speed Boost GEM will be activated automatically after a player blocks 2-3 stringed attacks from their opponent. As GEMs are assigned prior to a match, the activation conditions for the Boost GEMs are hidden from opponents, promoting an element of surprise that requires players to think and act quickly.
