Foam Fighters™ crash the party with LMFAO!

As if the new Foam Fighters™ line from APPGEAR wasn’t already cool enough, the game actually features in the video clip for LMFAO’s hit song “Sorry For Party Rocking”.

And we’re not talking about some dude in the corner playing the game, while all the “cool” people get down to the sounds of LMFAO. Foam Fighters™ has a starring role at the beginning of the clip, and this ingenious product placement will go a long way to cement Foam Fighters™ as the must have gaming appcessory for mobile devices in the coming months.

Check out the YouTube clip here LMFAO – Sorry For Party Rocking Video

A few WowWee® employees were lucky enough to be on the set during filming, in early April. It was a crazy scene, but they managed to snap some photos during the LMFAO crew’s downtime.

Foam Fighters™ will be available from all good games retailers in Australia in July.

COOLER MASTER RELEASES HAF XM FOR PC ENTHUSIASTS

The essence of the HAF X packed into a mid-tower size

Sydney, Australia – 23 May 2012 – Cooler Master, an industry leading chassis, thermal solution, peripheral, and accessory manufacturer today announced what amounts to the pure essence of the popular HAF X packed into a mid-tower size, the new HAF XM.

Never Compromise

Dual 200mm fan support (One is optional)

Rising to the level of the HAF (High Air Flow) legends before it, HAF XM supports an unprecedented four 200mm fans (Top x 2, Front, and Side) and a 140mm rear exhaust fan. With this, HAF XM contains a virtual hurricane’s force worth of airflow within its walls that will provide even the most extreme setups with cool air in excess of their needs. HAF XM harnesses the best of both cooling worlds by offering users support for the liquid side of cooling with space for up to a 2 x 140mm fan radiator up top and a 140mm radiator in the rear.

Enthusiast Mindset

Delivering the features enthusiast builders expect, HAF XM incorporates a 90° rotated side panel with a latched handle for the easiest access to core system components. 8+1 expansion slots offer space for multiple graphics cards setup in NVIDIA SLI or AMD CrossFire with accompanying sound and other add-on cards to vastly expand the capabilities of a system. Users can setup a massive HDD or SSD array with support for up to nine drives. This includes two X-Dock slots and a 2.5” HDD/SSD mounting point on the back of the motherboard tray. A rich front I/O panel offers access to two super speed USB 3.0 ports, 2 x USB 2.0, 2 audio in and out, and FAN LED control. Today’s pocket contents become tomorrow’s desk clutter. HAF XM assists in preventing this clutter by including a non-slip rubber pad on the top of the chassis for placing personal belongings. There’s also the side panel window version available.

Smarter Cable Management

By increasing overall interior space and attachment points for cables, HAF XM opens the door for more elegant and detailed management of cables. Extra space behind the motherboard tray allowed our engineers to include a feature that is often limited to those that are willing to mod their case to achieve. This is the 2.5” HDD/SSD mount on the back of the motherboard tray. With this, most of the system cables can be located behind the motherboard tray. Those cables that must appear in the front have the benefit of a HAF X inspired sliding PSU cover, ensuring that a system can easily be setup to look as though it were expertly managed.

Clueful Ensures iPhone Apps No Longer Keep Secrets

Bitdefender launches world’s first iOS app that shows how apps access iPhone owners’ private data

SYDNEY & AUCKLAND May 23, 2012Bitdefender, the global leader in computer security technology has announced the launch of Clueful, the world’s first and only application that tells you which iOS apps may be accessing more information than they need.

Clueful which launched 22 May on the Apple App Store, can identify potentially misbehaving apps on your iPhone, giving you an inside look at all the information app developers can gather about you.

Clueful’s sleek interface can display which applications are tracking your location, draining your battery, read and use your address book, hit you up with ads, track and aggregate your usage through multiple analytics networks. Furthermore the Clueful app can track what apps are careless with your usernames and passwords or access your Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts and more.

“App developers can ask for, and receive, access to your precise location, your contact list and more information about you when you install their products on your iPhone,” said Alexandru Catalin Cosoi, Chief Security Researcher. “Your iPhone is probably the most personal device you own, holding vast amounts of information about what you do, who you are, and where you go.

Clueful tells you what kinds of private information apps can access so you can make an informed decision whether to use that app.”

Clueful works by retrieving audit information from the cloud and will also let you examine an app before installing it, giving you the information you need to decide whom to trust with your personal data.

Brighter than a 1000 suns: Supernova explodes in August 2012

The second add-on for Fishlabs Entertainment’s popular science fiction-saga Galaxy on Fire 2™ will be released simultaneously in SD, HD and Full HD on August 30th, 2012.

Hamburg, Germany – May 23nd, 2012 – Supernova™, the upcoming expansion pack for Fishlabs Entertainment’s mobile sci-fi benchmark Galaxy on Fire 2™, which was originally scheduled for the second quarter of 2012, will finally see the light of day on August 30th, 2012. The title will be released simultaneously for all Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac) in platform-optimized SD, HD and Full HD versions. Storywise, Supernova™ will kick in right where the first add-on Valkyrie™ left off. This time, however, the focus will be put on the Mido Confederation’s desperate struggle for survival against a devastating supernova and a mysterious squadron of stealth fighters. Supernova™ had first been introduced to the public at the GDC in San Francisco in early March 2012 and the playable beta-version will be shown to the international press at the E3 in Los Angeles on June 5th to 7th, 2012.

The new storyline of Galaxy on Fire 2™ – Supernova, which contains approximately 10 hours of adventurous outer space action, will not only introduce a number of new characters, such as the eccentric scientist Thadellonius Moonsprocket to the Galaxy on Fire™ universe, but also give the players access to dozens of new space ships, weapons systems and high-tech gadgets. And, of course, the players will also meet some of their most favourite characters again, such as Keith’s lovely girlfriend Carla or his old companion Mkkt Bkkt. The action of the new add-on centres around a gigantic supernova, which seems to be of unnatural origin and threatens to annihilate the whole Mido sector and its inhabitants.

Besides a number of new star systems and planets, Supernova™ also includes several new gameplay features, such as plasma resources, which can be harvested from gas clouds with the aid of special equipment, or locked containers, which contain valuable cargo but can only be opened if you hack your way into their security system first. Another addition are the new bounty hunter- and evacuation missions.

The afore-mentioned features, as well as many other interesting issues, will be discussed in detail in the official developer diaries, which will be posted on the Fishlabs-Blog every two weeks and fill the fans in on the different steps and stages of the development of Supernova™.

“From Bedrooms to Billions” – New Documentary Film Telling the Story of the UK Video Games Industry Announced

OFFICIAL FILM POSTER

For immediate release: Filmmakers Anthony Caulfield & Nicola Caulfield have announced they have launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund the production of their new 90 minute documentary feature film titled ‘From Bedrooms to Billions’. The film tells the remarkable, true story of the British Video Games Industry between 1979 – 1996 and how the creativity and vision of a relatively small number of individuals allowed the UK to play a key, pioneering role in the shaping of the billion dollar video games industry which today, dominates the modern world’s entertainment landscape. Featuring interviews with key contributors to the UK story in video game development, publishing and journalism from over the last 40 years, combined with compelling archive, ‘From Bedrooms to Billions’ is the first to attempt to bring this fascinating story together starting in the late 70’s, spanning ‘Thatcher’s Britain’ of the 80’s and culminating in the dramatic shift of fortunes for the UK Video Games Industry by the late 90’s. The film celebrates the importance of this era and why it has become such a landmark period in the history of British invention, creativity and industry.

Producer, Anthony Caulfield said “From Bedrooms to Billions has been a very personal project for us since June 2008. Having completed many documentaries we have always wanted to document the rise of the British video games industry and the incredible story that went with it. What’s so fascinating is how the UK computer scene was originally nothing more than a scientific curiosity which snowballed into something so vast. As we started putting this film together we uncovered so many incredible stories, these people had to literally make up an industry as they went, some were very successful, but others were not so, however collectively we felt it a strong story that’s long overdue and should make a wonderful movie”. Fellow Producer Nicola Caulfield said “This film will be a great piece of nostalgic entertainment that documents an important part of UK history. This era is so often overlooked and not known by young British talent looking to enter the games industry, as the vast majority of UK children, school leavers and even students believe that gaming originated mainly from the US and Japan and have little to no knowledge that a British games industry even once existed”.
