PETZ® FROM UBISOFT® ARE BACK ON NINTENDO DSTM

AUSTRALIA – November 28th, 2008 – Today Ubisoft announced the launch of its new Petz® line-up for the Nintendo DS™. Petz: My Puppy Family has just hit stores, while Petz: My Kitten Family and Petz: My Monkey Family will be released in early 2009. The Petz range is one of the most successful Ubisoft brands, with more than 15 million games sold worldwide.

The best pet-simulation experience ever

With improved graphics and enhanced realism, Petz: My Puppy Family, Petz: My Kitten Family and Petz: My Monkey Family allow players to cuddle and care for up to 3 baby pets on screen at the same time.

For the first time, the new Petz titles include an exclusive breeding system: players can cross different breeds to create unique animals with original looks and characteristics. Moreover, the new Petz DS titles offer the possibility to follow the growth of the pets: from babies, through childhood and then to young adults, players will experience different interactions with their animal, depending on its development stage.

The new Petz DS games also bring new sharing functionalities. Thanks to the Nintendo DS Wireless Connection, you can organise play dates with your friends’ pets and even mix them together to create new animals!

A whole family of Petz in your Nintendo DS

The 3 new Petz DS games have been developed by the same studio that has already seen such success with the Petz line, bringing players a consistent gaming experience. Each Petz DS title includes no less than 18 of the most popular breeds. Players will find his/her favourite breed, from the American Shorthair to the Siamese in Petz: My Kitten Family, Golden Retriever to the Chihuahua in Petz: My Puppy Family and Orang-Utan to the Gorilla in Petz: My Monkey Family.

The new DS titles are ultimately all about cuteness and caring. By taking care of your baby pets and teaching them new tricks, players will  develop a very special and unique relationship with them. Feed them, wash them, play with them, mix them, share them… The new Petz DS games bring pet fun to the next level!

This year’s Petz range also includes two titles for the Nintendo Wii:

Petz Sports: Dog Playground, developed for Wii and PC – in store now.
Petz: Monkey Madness, developed for Wii, will be released in early 2009.

ATARI TO BRING ‘CODENAME PANZERS: COLD WAR’ OUT FROM BEHIND THE (IRON) CURTAIN

 – 28 November 2008 – It’s time to reshape cold war history as Atari announce the forthcoming launch of Codename Panzers: Cold War, the latest PC real-time strategy title in the acclaimed Codename Panzers series from developers Stormregion and InnoGlow.  The tense period in history when a word out of place could lead to all-out war provides a chilling backdrop for the real-time strategic action of Codename Panzers: Cold War, scheduled for release worldwide in February 2009 for Windows PC.
During the Cold War conflict the status quo between the occupying Allied and Soviet forces rests on a knife edge, when an aircraft accident over Tempelhof Airport during the Berlin Blockade threatens to tip the scales towards full-blown conflict.  The tragic collision of an American cargo plane with a Russian fighter costs not only the lives of both crews, but proves to be all the encouragement Stalin and his Red Army needs to wage all out bloody war against the NATO forces.

“The intensely realistic scenarios of the cold war era make it one of the richest and dynamic periods in history to set a game,” said Phil Harrison, President, Infogrames Entertainment, the parent company of Atari.  “With the added benefit of Stormregion’s online gameplay innovations, Codename Panzers: Cold War will continue the success of its predecessors.”

Codename Panzers: Cold War represents the pinnacle of Cold War era conventional warfare including real world post-war heavy armor battles between heavy tanks like the American M103 and the Russian Troyanov.  To take the gameplay beyond build-and-rush tactics the game uses a Point of Interest system, with distinctive structures on the map that teams must occupy to gain additional Prestige Points.  Depending on the location and type of structures you occupy, Prestige Points can then be used to call in special attacks like napalm or helicopter support, or to produce additional units.  Infantry can employ special urban warfare tactics like building and taking cover, constructing fortifications or tunneling, while the dynamic weather conditions affect unit behaviour and limit sight range creating even more tactical gameplay depth.

Taking the Cold War online, Codename Panzers: Cold War features extensive multiplayer gameplay options including coop, deathmatch and domination modes.  A high level of customization means that entire armies can bear their own unique livery and that every single unit including tanks can be customized with equipment including flamethrowers, amphibian devices, camouflage nets and more.  The title is undergoing extensive fine tuning and balancing of the gameplay prior to launch to ensure the most satisfying RTS experience possible.

With highly detailed visuals generated by Stormregion’s next-generation engine and online multiplayer for up to 8 players, Codename Panzers: Cold War brings the full cold-blooded chill of war to RTS fans, scheduled for release in February 2009.

When young dreamers, Sally Ann (MACKENZIE VEGA) and Ray (ABIGAIL BRESLIN, Little Miss Sunshine) rescue a Great Dane from an oncoming truck, outside the front of their orphanage, all their doggy dreams are realised. While they believe he was a gift from the gods, they soon suspect the nuns who run their convent may not feel the same way, and the girls must set about keeping their super-sized secret under wraps.

A tame task, perhaps – but that is only the start of things to come when the two girls find themselves lucky enough to be adopted by loving couple Matt and Laura Tomley (JUSTIN LOUIS and CHRISTINE TUCCI). Facing the move to a New York apartment with their new ‘parents’, the girls let Chestnut loose in Central Park.

What ensues is a tale of hilarity and misadventure, as Sally Ann and Ray try and keep tabs on their ever-growing furry friend, discovering along the way that poor Matt has an allergy to animal hair, and Chestnut has a nose for sniffing out small time thieves!

Directed by Robert Vince (Air Buddies) and filled with charming performances by Academy Award ® Nominees, this inventive tale of love, courage and learning to trust those around you is sure to have audiences begging for more! Including a behind the scenes bonus features, this is a family comedy to watch together time and time again.

The Truth Will Surface:Sharkwater released to DVD 4 February 2009!

Follow the journey of a world renowned shark enthusiast as he comes into close contact with the deadly sea predators, and the deadly shark poachers that want him eliminated.

The winner of 31 international awards, Sharkwater the documentary, delves deep into the myth of sharks as bloodthirsty killers, revealing the fine balance they bring to the ocean, and the environmental importance of their continued existence.

Having faced 450 million years of threats to their species, filmmaker Rob Stewart is horrified that the future of sharks may come undone once and for all, thanks to the overriding influence of human greed.

Update on the bug affecting the Nintendo Wii version of Tomb Raider: Underworld.

-November 28, 2008- Atari Australia and Eidos are aware of a bug which is present in the Nintendo Wii version of Tomb Raider: Underworld. Though the title is not due to be released until December 4th in Australia we would like to stress that this is an extremely infrequent bug, however on the rare occasion that it occurs; it affects the presence of a lever in the Thailand level of the game and prevents progress beyond this level. Eidos sincerely apologises to anyone who has experienced this frustrating problem. The quality of our games is paramount to us and the Nintendo Wii version of Tomb Raider: Underworld went through three separate QA testing departments prior to release. Regrettably anomalies such as this do occur occasionally in videogames despite the best efforts by publishers to avoid them.

The good news is that it is not an unsolvable bug, so if you encounter it and it persists please visit www.eidosinteractive.co.uk/support/worldmap.html or call the Atari Australia games hotline on 1902 262 626.

The bug is extremely infrequent and it is affecting a very small number of players. Nevertheless, it’s an issue we recognise, are taking very seriously and will resolve as quickly as possible.

Jack Gram has 88 minutes to solve a murder: His own

One of Hollywood’s greatest screen legends returns in an intensely riveting thriller, packed with twists and turns, when 88 MINUTES launches on DVD from 4 February 2009!

Famed forensic psychiatrist Dr. Jack Gramm (AL PACINO – The Godfather trilogy, Heat, Scarface, Scent of a Woman) has built a reputation for successfully profiling serial killers, including Jon Forster (NEAL MCDONOUGH), who was sentenced to death primarily on the strength of Gramm’s expert testimony. One night before Forster is scheduled to be executed, the city of Seattle is rocked by a killing that matches his crimes exactly — and the victim is one of Gramm’s students.

With the murder raising doubts about Forster’s guilt and casting suspicion on Gramm himself, the stakes are dramatically raised further when Gramm receives a cryptic phone call saying he has just 88 minutes to live.  This ignites a race against the clock; Gramm needs to identify the copycat killer from among a mass of possible suspects including the serial killer, a disgruntled student and a jilted former lover – all before his time runs out!

A paranoia-fuelled thrill ride that takes place virtually in real time, 88 MINUTES goes inside the brilliant mind of a man whose business it is to suspect the worst in people. This tense psychological thriller follows an FBI profiler down a rabbit hole of violence, deception and intrigue.  As the clock ticks away, tensions mount, suspicions rise and blood flows.

88 MINUTES marks the first collaboration between AL PACINO and director / producer JON AVNET, whose numerous credits include the Oscar® nominated Fried Green Tomatoes and the enduring comedy Risky Business.  Its powerful supporting cast includes ALICIA WITT (Vanilla Sky, The Upside of Anger), LEELEE SOBEIESKI (In The Name of the King, Deep Impact) and AMY BRENNEMAN (The Jane Austen Book Club, TV’s Judging Amy).

A strikingly original movie with a classic performance by one of Hollywood’s most accomplished actors, 88 MINUTES comes to DVD packed with bonus features including an Alternate Ending and multiple Behind the Scenes featurettes.  This is edge-of-your-seat filmmaking with an intriguing premise and packed with action at every turn!
