About “The Tunnel”

“The Tunnel” is set amidst abandoned underground train tunnels beneath Sydney’s CBD. In 2008, chasing rumours of a government cover-up and urban legends surrounding the sudden back-flip, investigative journalist Natasha Warner led a crew of four into the underground labyrinth.

They went down into the tunnels looking for a story – until the story found them.

“The Tunnel” chronicles their harrowing ordeal. With unprecedented access to the recently declassified tapes the crew shot in the claustrophobic subway tunnels, as well as a series of candid interviews with the survivors, viewers come face to face with the terrifying truth.  This never before seen footage takes viewers deep inside the tunnels bringing the darkness to life and capturing the raw fear that threatens to tear the crew apart, leaving each one of them fighting for their lives.

DREAMWORKS STUDIOS PICKS UP NEED FOR SPEED FROM EA

SYDNEY, Australia – June 25, 2012 – DreamWorks Studios has acquired the feature film rights to EA’s (NASDAQ: EA) popular video game franchise, Need for Speed™, it was announced jointly this weekend by DreamWorks CEO and Co-Chair Stacey Snider and EA President of Studios Frank Gibeau.

Brothers George and John Gatins developed the original story with George writing the feature’s screenplay. The screenplay is based on the Need for Speed series, but is not based on an individual game. EA will produce along with John Gatins and Mark Sourian. Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is attached to direct, and the project will be fast-tracked at DreamWorks with a target production start date for early next year, for a 2014 release.

The film adaptation will be a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise. In Need for Speed, the cars are hot, the racing is intense and the story keeps players at the edge of their seat.

“I’m excited about getting back into the creative trenches with John and George Gatins and my partners at EA to bring to life an exhilarating script based on an epic video game that seems to have been made for the movies,” said Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Chairman. “This is a big piece of business for DreamWorks and we are grateful to Frank Gibeau, Pat O’Brien, Kevin Maher and John and George for choosing us to deliver their goods.”

“George, John and EA brought a very compelling story to us which we believe is going to make a fun, cool movie franchise,” said Stacey Snider, CEO and Co-Chair of DreamWorks. “With such a large following around the globe, we’re excited to make a film that does justice to the popular underlying video game series.”

“We are thrilled to be in business with our friends Steven Spielberg, Stacey Snider and the entire DreamWorks team,” said Frank Gibeau, President of EA Labels. “They are the perfect partner to take Need for Speed to the big screen by creating the exciting action film that we have always envisioned.”

“It’s fantastic to be working with a team that shares not only our love of cars, but also our passion for creating blockbuster action experiences. This collaboration will be greatly enhanced with the team at DreamWorks – which is a great home for the Need for Speed franchise,” said Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President, EA Games Label.  Added Pat O’Brien, Vice President of EA Entertainment: “Working with John and George to develop the script has truly been an outstanding experience.”

Need for Speed is the premier racing game in the video game industry and one of EA’s best-selling video game franchises. Since the release of the first title, the series has sold more than 140 million units worldwide, generating an estimated $4 billion in retail revenue, making it one of the biggest franchises in video gaming.

Need for Speed serves as a reunion with both George Gatins and John Gatins with DreamWorks.  George was an executive producer on the studio’s 2010 film “She’s Out of My League.” John’s previous projects with DreamWorks include the 2005 film “Dreamer” which he wrote and directed. He also wrote the script for last year’s “Real Steel” and has been working on the script for its sequel. He recently wrote the script for “Flight” which will be released by Paramount later this year.

Both EA and John and George Gatins are represented by UTA, who negotiated the deal.

BenQ say: ‘It’s VA LED all the way!’

Feature 5,000:1 Ultra-High Native Contrast Ratio, 8-Bit Color Performance, True Blacks, and Wide-Angle Viewing

Sydney Australia, 18 June 2012:  Purchasing a BenQ monitor now guarantees an optimised viewing experience with the company deciding to adopt Vertical Alignment (VA) LED panel technology across the range of its monitor line-up.  BenQ launched the world’s first VA LED monitor only two years ago, and has now decided to extend VA LED panel technology across the monitor range,  providing consumers with a higher native contrast ratio to show true black and vivid colour surpassing other displays.

What this means to the consumer is that for no real additional outlay they’re assured of a monitor which offers an outstanding visual performance with the sharpest details, the richest colours and the deepest blacks – three core elements that contribute substantially to the visual clarity and viewing comfort of a computer monitor.  Coupled with this, VA LED monitors are energy-efficient and eco-friendly, greatly reducing power consumption and are manufactured mercury-free, making them less costly to the Earth.

Said BenQ Australia’s general manager, Chee F. Chung, “Twisted Nematic (TN) LED and In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels only come with a 1000:1 native contrast ratio, where VA LED panels boast an ultra-high native contrast ratio of 5000:1, bringing astonishing colour depth and definition from the brightest whites to the deepest blacks with the greatest subtlety and clarity.

“This is obviously ideal for those wishing to use their monitor for personal entertainment, but should not be underestimated for general purpose usage also.  For instance, watching videos and browsing pictures on a VA LED panel is vastly more comfortable and easier on the eye then with a traditional TN LED monitor,” she said.

“Other advantages to VA panels include a wider viewing angle to accommodate a bigger audience more comfortably, and true 8-bit colour delivers smoother and more stable colour transitions by rendering a total of 16.7 million colour shades.

“BenQ’s line up of monitors from the multimedia EW, to the stylish VW, ergonomic BL and general purpose GW series now takes full advantage of VA panel technology and LED backlighting,” said Chung.

The complete VA Range:

GW Series (Home and Office): for value-seekers looking to manage their needs for essential home and office use, such as web-surfing or handling administrative tasks.

RRP: from $179 to $299 ( 21.5” / 24” / 27” )

VW Series (Stylish): for those with an eye for fashion, a range that satisfies aesthetic demands

RRP: from $199 to $349 ( 21.5” / 24” / 27” )

EW Series (Multimedia): for heavy computer users seeking premium multimedia enjoyment with excellent visual image quality

RRP: from $279 to $399 ( 24” / 27” )

BL Series (Ergonomic): for business seeking the most ergonomic solution to improve productivity and efficiency

RRP: from $399 only for 1 model BL2400PT

There is a BenQ VA LED monitor for every application, from entry level to premium models in display sizes ranging from 21.5” – 27”.

World of Warplanes Carrier-Based Aircraft Take To The Skies

22 June 2012 — Wargaming, the award-winning global video game developer and publisher, today introduced US carrier-based aircraft – a unique line of warplanes to fight in the virtual skies of the highly anticipated flight combat MMO World of Warplanes.

The US tech tree features nine iconic carrier-based aircraft from the United States Navy, including the Grumman F2F and Brewster F2A Buffalo, the first biplane fighters with retractable undercarriage, as well as the boldly designed Chance Vought F5U and Vought F7U Cutlass fighters, both of which pioneered the use of turbojet power. Other WWII-famed carrier-based aircraft, such as F4F Wildcat, F4U Corsair and Goodyear F2G “Super” Corsair, offer even more options for players.

“The carrier-based aircraft in World of Warplanes showcases the evolution of North American engineering and the effort to create the ultimate shipboard fighter outfitted for challenging multitask operations over the seas and coastal areas”, comments Alex Zezulin, Project Manager for World of Warplanes. “It is a unique and extremely interesting warplane type, sharing many features found in both light and heavy fighters”.

With often unique and unorthodox body designs, carrier-based aircraft were also known for their ability to carry a wide variety of armaments, as well as carried a reputation for exceptional ruggedness under the most extreme conditions. They were also, however, highly maneuverable and able to carry an increased fuel load, making them perfect choices for intense dogfights, formidable surface attacks and reconnaissance missions.

World of Warplanes is currently in closed beta, where virtual pilots are invited to experience the thrill of aerial dogfighting combat in 59 different aircraft from Germany, the United States and the U.S.S.R, across four unique maps.

About World of Warplanes

World of Warplanes is the flight combat MMO action game set in the Golden Age of military aviation. The game continues the armored warfare theme marked in the highly-acclaimed World of Tanks and will throw players into a never-ending tussle for air dominance.

World of Warplanes will allow players to build full-scale careers as virtual pilots offering machines from several key eras, from1930’s biplanes to the Korean War jet fighters that led the way to modern air forces.

World of Warplanes will feature a wide range of warbirds, each of them unique in their effectiveness and behavior. Virtual pilots will choose from three main warplane classes – single-engine light fighters capable of engaging enemies in close dogfights, heavy fighters with their deadly straight attacks, and strafing aircrafts, the fearsome threat to ground targets.

Every plane will feature multiple variations of ammo types, engines, and other crucial modules, and their various combinations will allow players to pick the optimal configuration for the most effective behavior in combat.
