Kingston Technology Releases HyperX Fan New Fan Keeps HyperX Memory Cool While Looking Cool

Sydney, Australia – (June 3, 2009) – Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced its new HyperX Fan, designed specifically to keep Kingston HyperX memory cool. The dual 60mm fans optimize airflow around the modules helping memory run at peak performance for longer periods of time. A video of the new HyperX Fan has been posted on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKMtqL7pyQk.

“At LAN parties and benchmarking events worldwide, HyperX enthusiasts told us they wanted something cool looking to keep the memory cool,” said Vaughan Nankivell, Regional Manager- Australia and New Zealand for Kingston Technology. “We listened and thus developed this fan as the perfect complement for both the standard and taller HyperX T1 series modules. The hip blue lights give it a bling factor that could be the difference between first and second place in a system-build competition.”

The HyperX Fan is made of anodized aluminum and in the same familiar blue color as the HyperX heatspreaders. When turned on, the fan blades are illuminated by eight small blue LEDs. Power use is minimal and noise is not an issue as the fan runs at a whisper-quiet 25 dBA*. The fan is available as a standalone or bundled with Kingston’s 6GB 2000- and 1800MHz triple-channel memory kits with the T1 heatspreaders for Intel Core i7 systems.

The Kingston HyperX Fan is backed by a one-year warranty and free technical support. For detailed information, please visit the Kingston Web site at www.kingston.com/anz.

Kingston Technology Makes SSD Upgrade Affordable and Easy – SSDNow V “Value” Series Extend Life, Increase Performance of Existing Systems

Sydney, Australia – (June 3, 2009) – Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced the release of the SSDNow V Series solid-state drive (SSD) upgrade bundles. Targeted specifically for mass-market consumers and small and medium businesses, the Kingston SSDNow V Series upgrade bundles, available in 128GB and 64GB capacities, are the first products in a series of low-cost, value-driven SSD solutions to increase performance on existing desktops and notebooks.

“The SSDNow V Series upgrade bundles are a terrific solution ? given the current economy ? for cost-conscious consumers who want an instant performance increase on an existing computer at a very reasonable price point,” said Vaughan Nankivell, Regional Manager- Australia and New Zealand for Kingston Technology. “We are trying to garner mass-market adoption of SSDs by bundling together all of the software, hardware and step-by-step instructions in a couple of low-cost options aimed squarely at everyday users. The V Series upgrade bundles are a perfect complement to our existing line of SSDNow products that target enterprise customers and prosumers.”

“Our focus has been to bring improvement to the everyday functions such as speeding up boot up times and opening applications, at compelling price points, to complement the existing hard drive in desktops,” said Louis Kaneshiro, Senior Technology Manager, Kingston.

Kingston’s SSDNow V Series upgrade bundles are the easiest, most efficient upgrade path to inject new life and performance into one’s existing desktop PC. There is no need to reload the operating system or do anything that would alter critical data files. The included cloning software and step-by-step instructions make it simple to move the contents of one’s existing hard-disk drive (HDD) to the SSD. Once cloned, the OS and applications reside on the SSD while the HDD serves as storage for data such as music, videos, files and photos.

Notebook users will also experience the benefits of higher performance on everyday functions as well as less heat generation and ruggedness as the SSD contains no moving parts. The notebook upgrade kit comes with an external enclosure, which allows users to retain their original hard drive and allow for additional storage.

“Based on our internal suite of benchmark tests, users can expect to see an overall drive improvement of approximately 50 percent over existing 7200RPM and 5400RPM hard-disk drives,” Kaneshiro added.

The SSDNow V Series upgrade bundle kits include:
• Kingston SSDNow V Series solid-state drive
• Acronis True Image cloning software and CD installation guide
• 3.5″ mounting brackets and hardware (desktop bundle only)
• SATA data and power cable extenders (desktop bundle only)
• 2.5″ USB SATA enclosure (notebook bundle only)

During COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2009, Kingston will demonstrate the V Series as well as other products on June 5, 2009, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., local time, at Brown Sugar Jazz Club. The address is: No. 101, Sungren Road., Shinyi District, Taipei City, 106 Taiwan.

Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Come Together for World Premiere of The Beatles™: Rock Band™

Unique Experiential Journey Through The Beatles’ Career to Feature Introduction of Three-Part Vocal Harmonies, 45 Songs On-Disc and Reveal of First Downloadable Album, Abbey Road

June 3 2009, Australia – Original band members Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison, came together to kick off the 2009 E3 Media & Business Summit with the world premiere of The Beatles: Rock Band.

The first-of-its-kind music-based video game offers a revolutionary tour of The Beatles’ music, career and legacy. Presented by Apple Corps, Ltd., and MTV Games’ Harmonix Music Systems, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), The Beatles: Rock Band will be released worldwide on 9 September, as will the release of the entire, original, digitally re-mastered Beatles CD catalogue. Electronic Arts will serve as the distribution partner for the game.

Unveiled at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, the game is the first time fans will be able to experience The Beatles’ musical career for themselves. From the early touring days in 1963 Liverpool to the immortal, final performance on the Apple Corps rooftop, fans can follow in the band’s footsteps as they traverse the globe during the height of Beatlemania.

Adding to the experience is the introduction of three-part vocal harmonies to game play, allowing gamers to revel in the unparalleled vocal stylings of the Fab Four. Beatles fans will also be thrilled to hear previously unreleased authentic voice recordings from John, Paul, George and Ringo chatting between takes during studio sessions recorded at Abbey Road more than four decades ago.

Of The Beatles’ epic catalogue, 45 songs will be available on-disc. Giles Martin, co-producer of The Beatles innovative LOVE album project and Music Supervisor / Creative Producer for The Beatles: Rock Band, unveiled the first ten songs that will be available on the game-disc:

·      ‘I Saw Her Standing There’
·      ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’
·      ‘I Feel Fine’
·      ‘Taxman’
·      ‘Day Tripper’
·      ‘Back In The USSR’
·      ‘I Am The Walrus’
·      ‘Octopus’s Garden’
·      ‘Here Comes The Sun’
·      ‘Get Back’

Additional songs will be announced at a later date. Along with these 45 songs, the entire Abbey Road album will be available for future download purchase, as will additional music from The Beatles’ catalogue.

It was also announced today that ‘All You Need Is Love’, will be released exclusively on Xbox 360® and entertainment system from Microsoft as a downloadable song for The Beatles: Rock Band through Xbox LIVE on 9 September 2009 with all Apple Corps Ltd, MTV Games and Microsoft proceeds benefitting Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison, personally selected the international emergency medical humanitarian organisation created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971 as the beneficiary of the proceeds from the sales of “All You Need Is Love” for The Beatles: Rock Band.

The Beatles: Rock Band story mode will take fans on an interactive, experiential journey through The Beatles career. Along the way, venues, set lists, clothing and instruments will replicate the band’s rise to fame, represented in The Beatles’ touring period from 1963 to1966 and their studio days from 1966 to 1969.

The game begins during the band’s earliest days at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England. Gamers will then travel across the Atlantic to experience the band’s unforgettable 1964 performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, the sold-out concert at New York’s Shea Stadium in 1965, and conclude at The Beatles’ memorable concert at Budokan in Tokyo, Japan in 1966. The Beatles’ studio years will come to life in legendary Studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios. Highlighting the studio years are inspired artistic visual expressions known as Dreamscapes, intended to transport players to imaginative environments that capture the essence of The Beatles’ genre-busting musical and fashion transformations during their later years. The game follows The Beatles to 1969 where story mode culminates with their final performance on the rooftop of the Apple Corps Headquarters. The Beatles: Rock Band is being displayed during the 2009 E3 Media & Business Summit in the MTV Games booth in the South Hall # 2023.

The Beatles: Rock Band will be available simultaneously worldwide in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other territories for the Xbox®360, PLAYSTATION®3 and Wii™ on 9 September, 2009.

The Beatles: Rock Band marks the first time that Apple Corps, along with EMI Music, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Harrisongs Ltd and Startling Music Ltd has agreed to present The Beatles music in an interactive video game format. The Beatles: Rock Band will be published by MTV Games and developed by Harmonix, the world’s premier music video game company and creators of the best-selling Rock Band. In addition, Giles Martin, co-producer of The Beatles innovative LOVE album project, is providing his expertise and serving as Music Producer for this groundbreaking Beatles project.

Moblin Gains Momentum at Computex

COMPUTEX, TAIPEI, Taiwan, 3 June, 2009 – Building on last month’s Moblin version 2 beta announcement, multiple operating system vendors (OSVs), independent software vendors (ISVs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) used Computex as a backdrop to announce their support for Moblin, an optimised Linux operating system project that delivers a visually rich Internet and media experience on Intel® Atom™ processor-based devices including mobile Internet devices (MIDs), netbooks/nettops, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and embedded systems.

Also at Computex, Intel Corporation hosted the Moblin Executive Summit to discuss the growing ecosystem momentum behind Moblin and demonstrate the richness of the Moblin v2 beta environment. Intel’s Doug Fisher, vice president of the Software and Services Group, keynoted the event. He was joined by Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, who discussed the opportunity for Moblin as a unified front for the Linux community to impact the quickly growing mobile computing sector.

In addition, Wu Ming-ji, director-general of the Moblin Enabling Center (MEC) in Taiwan, highlighted such MEC contributions to Moblin as developing key OSV relationships and encouraging OEM adoption. Other notable participants who reaffirmed their commitments to deliver Moblin v2-based offerings were Campbell Kan from Acer, S.Y. Shian from Asus, Xingguo Shi from Asianux, Jon Melamut from Canonical, Stephen Lim from Linpus, Guy Lunardi from Novell and Larry Kettler from Xandros. The summit provided a holistic look at the Moblin project and highlighted the industry’s rapid efforts to productise.

Moblin v2 Beta Launches – On May 19, Moblin v2 beta was released to the Moblin community. Moblin v2 beta includes enhancements to fast boot technology, memory footprint optimisation and low power features. It also introduces integrated social networking and an outstanding visual user experience through an easy-to-use and intuitive interface. Currently available for netbooks and nettops, Moblin v2 beta for MIDs, IVI and embedded systems is expected by the end of 2009. Developers interested in Moblin v2 for any Intel Atom processor-based platform may use the current beta release as a development framework.

Moblin’s New Look – The most notable feature of Moblin v2 beta is the active, visually appealing and intuitive user interface, a first for Linux, which was designed from the ground up on clutter technology to be optimised for rich Internet and media consumption on small form factor devices. Although Moblin is a community effort, Intel was a major contributor to the new interface, using engineering expertise from its recent acquisition of mobile open source developer, OpenedHand. A video demo of the new user interface is available at http://moblin.org/documentation/moblin-netbook-intro.
OSVs and ISVs Pledge their Support – Over the past week, multiple OSVs and ISVs announced that they will deliver Moblin v2-based offerings over the coming months. Moblin v2 beta provides the structure for OSVs to incorporate robust Internet and media capabilities into their consumer Linux offerings. Supporting OSVs include Asianux, Canonical, CS2C, Good OS, Linpus, Mandriva, MontaVista, Novell, Pixart, Red Flag, TurboLinux and Xandros. During the Moblin Executive Summit, Novell demonstrated the SUSE edition of Moblin v2 preloaded on Acer, Asus and MSI netbooks. Additionally, ISVs Infraware and GyPSii announced their support for Moblin v2 beta. Moblin v2 beta will enhance current ISV product offerings by enabling a more robust user experience. Third-party press releases can be found at www.moblinzone.com.
The Future of the Moblin Project – Under the direction of the Linux Foundation, and with support and contributions from the open source community, Moblin will continue to foster growth and innovation for mobile computing. Intel expects a wide range of netbooks and nettops to be preloaded with Moblin v2-based operating systems and publicly available by the winter holiday shopping season.
