AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURE ATHLETE AND BIG WAVE SURFER MARK VISSER’S

WORLD-FIRST HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT

On January 20 this year, Mark Visser, a 28 year-old Australian adventure athlete and professional big wave rider, made history by becoming the first person to surf the infamous Jaws break in Hawaii in complete darkness.

Visser’s world-first achievement made international headlines when, at 2 am local Maui time, he rode 30-40 plus foot waves in the notoriously dangerous outer reef, illuminated by specially engineered LED lights built into his buoyancy vest and modified into the surfboard.

The clip of Visser’s historic night ride featured in news bulletins all over the world and became an online viral sensation, with nearly 2 million views.

NBC Sports’ Rob Sylvester called the footage “the best thing to come out of surfing since Point Break” and the Huffington Post declared that “Mark Visser might be the gutsiest surfer in the world.”

Fortrus Sports teamed with Producer Richard Scotts of RJ Media to document Mark Visser’s epic journey in his quest to create history by being the first man to conquer a 40 plus foot wave at night – in a new film, NIGHT RIDER.

NIGHT RIDER is the powerful and dramatic story of an adventure athlete facing technical, physical and mental challenges at every turn, prepared to push himself to the limit in an effort to fulfil his dream, even if it means risking his life. The film is a compelling, incredible story about confronting your fears, set to change the face of extreme adventure sport and surfing forever.
