McAfee All Access 2013 Enhances Cross-Device Protection for Consumers

New Easy Management and Advanced Protection Capabilities Help Address Continued Surge in Threats Across Multiple Devices and Platforms

Sydney, Australia, 28 November, 2012 McAfee has announced significant enhancements to McAfee All Access, the industry’s premier integrated cross-device security product for PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets. McAfee All Access 2013’s new, consolidated dashboard enables consumers to quickly and easily monitor how devices are protected, invite family members to install protection on their devices, and instantly access free premium technical support. With one central location to install and manage mobile, data and system security as well as family protection, McAfee All Access safeguards all facets of users’ digital lives and enables them to enjoy a safe online experience regardless of device or location.

According to the McAfee Threats Report: Third Quarter 2012, the company found that the number of threats across all platforms and devices continues to rise. Traditional web threats, like suspicious URLs, are growing and saw a 20 per cent quarter-over-quarter increase, mobile malware nearly doubled, and Mac malware shows strong, continued growth. In addition, McAfee warned that both Trojans designed to steal passwords and Autorun malware, which spreads through flash drives, memory cards, and other external devices, are increasing. McAfee All Access’s broad and deep security portfolio delivers the most comprehensive means of protection against the rapidly evolving threat landscape.

McAfee’s Consumer Marketing Director for APAC, Melanie Duca, said, “Mobile malware has nearly doubled in the last quarter so it’s now more important than ever for us to extend security beyond the PC and protect all of our devices. Smartphones and tablets carry so much information and are so integral to our daily life – from contacting friends, capturing photos and accessing online banking – that we simply can’t risk them coming under attack.”

McAfee All Access also includes new McAfee SiteAdvisor Social software that colour-codes risks that appear within social networking sites for guidance and safety access. Downloaded more than 55 million times a year, McAfee SiteAdvisor software adds safety ratings to browser and search engine results helping protect consumers from the Internet’s more than 43 million suspect URLs1. McAfee All Access’s new vulnerability scanner proactively detects vulnerabilities in the operating system and in installed apps, and a redesigned user interface supports new touch-friendly devices with easier layout and faster navigation. Users can also take advantage of mobile privacy enhancements including a call and SMS filter, as well as an app privacy alert feature.

McAfee has also launched its portfolio of consumer PC security suites – McAfee Total Protection 2013, McAfee Internet Security 2013 and McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013 – all of which feature a redesigned powerful malware detection framework with proactive detection and cleaning capabilities. An enhanced McAfee NetGuard feature also offers contextually aware anti-bot protection monitors where applications want to connect and informs the user of suspicious activity. Australian Nintendo Fans Rejoice – The Wii U will be available tomorrow, the 30th of November

With the new Wii-U being available nationally tomorrow Australia, Nintendo’s new console is sure to turn heads, especially with the company selling over 400,000 units in the US within the first week. So where’s the best place to buy the Wii-U? Our little research believe the place may be K-Mart with the basic pack being $299AUD or the premium $389AUD!

[Source news.com.au]

NINTENDO has sold more than 400,000 of its new video game console, the Wii U, in its first week on sale in the U.S., the company said Monday.

The Wii U launched on November 18 in the US at a starting price of $300. Nintendo said the sales figure, based on internal estimates, is through Saturday, or seven days later.

The Wii U is the first major game console to launch in six years. It comes with a new touch-screen controller that promises to change how people play games by offering different people in the same room a different experience, depending on the controller used.

Six years ago, Nintendo Co. sold 475,000 of the original Wii in that console’s first seven days in stores, according to data from the NPD Group. The original Wii remains available, and Nintendo said it sold more than 300,000 of them last week, along with roughly 250,000 handheld Nintendo 3DS units and about 275,000 of the Nintendo DS.

At this early stage, demand isn’t the only factor dictating how many consoles are sold. Supply is, too. This means it’s likely that more people wanted to buy the Wii U in the first week than those who were able to. The original Wii was in short supply more than a year after it went on sale.

As of Monday afternoon, the website of Best Buy Co. was sold out of the Wii U. Video game retailer GameStop Corp. said there was at least a three day wait for a deluxe Wii U, which costs $350, has more memory and comes with a game called “Nintendo Land.” GameStop still had the basic, $300 version available.

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter estimates that Nintendo will ship 1 million to 1.5 million Wii Us in the U.S. through the end of January.

Rocksmith DLC Updates OCT,NOV 2012

Rocksmith DLC updates Oct, Nov 2012
Rocksmith is still going strong, already a little over a year old in the United States and not long ago released across the world. It’s the offering from Ubisoft that manages to bring things to an altogether new level when it comes to melding the fun of a game with the aspects of learning an actual musical instrument. First with any electric guitar, then several months back the release of the Bass expansion.
Ubisoft has ongoing support by way of a slow drip feed of Downloadable content each month.
The last few offerings have been a kaleidoscope of genres, from the indie sounds of folks like Gary Clarks “Bright Lights, and the razor pop catchy sounds from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals in the song “Paris (Ooh La la)” and the catchy tune from The Shins “Caring is Creepy.” And now harder rocked edge sounds from Avenged Seven Fold, with songs like “Beast and the Harlot”, “Afterlife” and “Nightmare.” Bringing on sounds of screaming verses and into growls of danger and ebbing with raw emotion in the lyrics and pounding of guitar and bass…this brought a welcome surprise to Rocksmith’s line up.
The Rush song pack just dropped two weeks ago and that was a welcome addition, hopefully of things and Bands to come. The rush song pack has songs such as “Tom Sawyer”, Red Berchetta”, “Limelight”, “Subdivisions”, and “YYZ” and then “Headlong Flight” which is not part of the pack.
Now recently, Rocksmith slapped some Funk into things. Releasing today’s awesome singles from Chic “Good Times”, Parliament “Give up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)”, and Rick James “Super Freak”.
Rocksmith of course has been doing a great job at getting new songs out to the fans, though with another guitar game from another company looming, Ubisoft may want to step up some of the releases to keep the crown.
