NETSKY UNVEILS THE BRAND NEW “EPIC MICKEY 2 (REMIX)” INSPIRED BY DISNEY EPIC MICKEY 2: THE POWER OF TWO

Dancefloor favourite Netsky shares the spotlight with Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in brand new music video

MELBOURNE – (14th December 2012) – Disney today premiered a brand new, custom-made remix from acclaimed DJ and producer, Netsky, inspired by the action-adventure video game “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” which launched on 22rd November.   Entitled “Epic Mickey 2 (Remix)”, the track samples tunes from the game’s soundtrack mixed with original sounds and melody from the 23-year old Belgian producer.  “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is the first video game that can be described as a “musical” and features all-original music and lyrics.

The song has also inspired an electrifying new music video featuring footage of Netsky, currently touring the UK, plus gameplay footage from “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” with cameos from its stars, Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first cartoon star.

Having quickly risen through the ranks, Netsky is the “new face of Bass music” according to Mixmag, being picked up and embraced by some of the industry’s biggest players. Netsky’s album “Netsky 2” released in June 2012 received widespread critical acclaim, reaching  the Top 30 in the UK album charts and No. 1 in his home country of Belgium. Netsky recently picked up Best Live Act, Album, Song and Artist of the Year at the Red Bull Elektropedia awards and is the highest Drum & Bass DJ in the DJ mag top100 poll 2012.  His video for the song “Come Alive” has reached over 3.5 million views on YouTube.

“It’s not every day you get a remix call from Mickey Mouse so I was excited to check out the Epic Mickey 2 soundtrack and then add my own twist to it ” said Netsky. “I really loved the first Epic Mickey game, it’s much harder than it looks! So being given the chance to collaborate on this new game was an amazing opportunity to do something really creative with some iconic characters and a video game with a really loyal fan base. The music in Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is really interesting as it’s a musical, a first for video game soundtracks so I’m thrilled to bring a bit of the Drum + Bass sound to the party.”

“Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with more than 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions. But for the first time, Mickey and Oswald will join forces as true partners – Mickey with the magical paint brush that allows him to wield paint and thinner, and Oswald with a powerful remote control that allows him to command electricity. At many points throughout the adventure, characters will advance the plot by expressing themselves in song, with all-original music and lyrics produced by Emmy award winning composer Jim Dooley.

“Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is available now on Nintendo Wii, Nintendo’s Wii U™ system, Xbox360 and PlayStation3.

On Santa’s naughty list? Brisbane creatives offer 2-minute solution to redeem yourself after 366* days of naughtiness

On Santa’s naughty list? Brisbane creatives offer 2-minute solution to redeem yourself after 366* days of naughtiness

YOU better watch out, you better not cry, JSAcreative and Smoke Creative will tell you why – they’ve created a two minute video to redeem yourself after 366* days of naughtiness.

The two leading creative companies in Brisbane have collaborated on an interactive online video experience for the festive season.

Forget sending e-cards full of smiley elves, sparkly trees and jingles exuding merriment, this video paints an irreverent vision of Christmas featuring seedy hacker elves, contraband candy and shady backstreet deals.

www.badbadchristmas.com.au works on the premise that the user has been placed on Santa’s Naughty List and is seeking removal.

Using Facebook Connect, the user is invited to substitute their place with a friend, setting in action a personalised video piece integrating the user’s selected Facebook friends.

Head of digital at JSAcreative, Darren Walls, said the concept was developed with a desire to take adults back to their childhood while still using an adult frame of reference.

“Everyone remembers the fear of being on Santa’s naughty list as a child and getting nothing on Christmas morning,” Walls said.

“We wanted to draw on the nostalgia of that but also flip it on its head by creating an alternative, tongue-in-cheek underworld where elves are common crims and Santa is more Tony Soprano than Saint Nick.”

Digital agency JSAcreative was responsible for the development of the website and Facebook integration, while video production specialists Smoke Creative scripted, filmed and produced the two minute video.

So, if you don’t fancy receiving coal for Christmas, log onto badbadchristmas.com and redeem yourself and then make sure you dob in a friend.

Logitech’s New Mice, Touchpad and Bluetooth Keyboard for Windows 8 Put You in Control

New Suite of Products Provide Ease and Comfort in Navigation of Windows 8

SYDNEY, Australia. — Dec. 13, 2012 — Today Logitech (SIX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI) announced a new lineup of products designed for easy and intuitive navigation of Windows 8. The Logitech® Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650, Logitech® Touch Mouse T620 and Logitech® Zone Touch Mouse T400 are available now and Logitech Bluetooth illuminated Keyboard K810 will be available in January. Each devise is specifically designed to work with the Windows 8 touch interface.

“This new family of products takes the traditional mouse functionality you’re used to and optimizes it for the navigation experience offered by Windows 8,” said Mike Culver, vice president of brand development for consumer computing platforms at Logitech. “Our new mice and touchpad replicate the touch-screen experience that you’ve grown accustomed to on smartphones and tablets. With Windows 8 now offering up a similar touch experience, our products give you quick, easy and dynamic access to the core elements of the new interface.

Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650

The Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 features a large, ultra-smooth glass touch-surface that supports Windows 8 gestures, and speeds up navigation among windows while giving your fingers more room to roam.

You can perform the basic point, click and scroll functions anywhere your fingers rest on the touch surface, while also taking advantage of Windows 8 gestures, such as edge gestures for app switching, app bar and charms bar activation, pinch-to-zoom and three-finger swipe to take you back to the Start Screen.

The touchpad consists of one large touch-area with a glass surface that provides smooth gliding for greater gesture and cursor control. You can left- or right-click anywhere on the surface of the touchpad, and it includes an embedded sensor to ensure precise tracking so navigation is fast and fluid.

Logitech Touch Mouse T620

For those looking for a mouse with an ultra-sleek design, the Logitech Touch Mouse T620 provides a full touch-surface for fluid navigation. Similar to the touchpad, you have the freedom to gesture wherever your fingers rest on the mouse – even on the edges – so everything you do feels natural and intuitive, including horizontal and vertical scrolling, and app switching.

This smooth wireless mouse has high style, designed-for-comfort curves that keep your hand happy for hours, and a laser-grade optical sensor that ensures precision tracking on most surfaces.

Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400

The Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 goes beyond traditional mouse functionality by letting you quickly and easily access popular elements of the operating system. It features a glass touch-surface that is designed for smooth horizontal and vertical scrolling with your fingers, and you can click anywhere on the front of the touch zone to go directly to the Windows 8 Start Screen to access your favorite apps.

With a rubber grip wrapping the comfortable shape – and by coupling the standard functionality found in a more traditional mouse with smooth horizontal and vertical scrolling – you’ll be happy exploring your PC or tablet for hours on end.

Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810

This thin keyboard Improves Multi-Tasking Across Platforms with Easy-Switch Bluetooth Technology and is designed to look right at home next to all your devices with its real brushed aluminum and sleek lines, regardless if you’re working on a Windows 8 PC, Apple iPad® or Android smartphone.

To increase the keyboard’s usability in low-light conditions or at night, auto-adjusting illumination ensures the laser-etched key characters are always bright and easy to read. The keyboard also uses proximity detection to turn on the lighting when your hands approach it, and automatically dims or brightens, depending on the amount of light in the room.

Battery Life

The Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 recharges through USB and has up to one month of battery life on a full charge, and an On/Off switch with a low-battery indicator light. The Logitech Touch Mouse T620 has a six-month battery life, and the Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 has an 18-month battery life. Similar to the touchpad, the Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 also features an On/Off switch and a low battery indicator light.

Further addressing your need for convenience and productivity, Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is USB rechargeable with 10 days of battery life on a full charge (based on varying user and computing conditions). Thanks to the easy-to-use USB cable, you can even use your keyboard while it’s recharging. The keyboard also features a convenient On/Off switch, and its battery-indicator light helps you manage power so you know when it’s time to recharge.

The battery life for each product is based on varying user and computing conditions.

Symantec launches new Backup Exec 3600 in Australia

Symantec launches the Backup Exec 3600 appliance in Australia

SYDNEY, Australia – December 13, 2012 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the Australian launch of a new backup and data management appliance, the Backup Exec 3600. An integrated solution that features backup software and storage hardware in the same device, the Backup Exec 3600 appliance is designed to make it easier for businesses to protect their vital information.

According to Symantec’s recent State of Information Survey conducted with 4,506 organisations in 38 countries, the total size of information stored today by all businesses is 2.2 zettabytes and information costs businesses worldwide $1.1 trillion annually.

The survey also revealed that 69 percent of the businesses surveyed had experienced some form of information loss due to human error, hardware failure, security breach, and/or lost or stolen devices. In addition, some 25 percent of respondents were also challenged by the overwhelming growth of information.

With explosive data growth and wide adoption of virtualisation, many organisations are facing more challenges with data backup and recovery as well as higher risks of data loss due to unplanned disruptions such as natural disasters.

“To address these data protection and management challenges, we have launched the Backup Exec 3600 appliance in Australia to provide customers with an all-in-one platform that centralises backup for physical and virtual environments and maximises performance with end-to-end deduplication – all on a pre-configured device supported by Symantec,” said Brenton Smith, vice president and managing director, Pacific region, Symantec.

“The Backup Exec 3600 appliance is designed to help bring better backup to Australian businesses. There’s nothing to configure and users don’t need to worry about integration between hardware and software. The appliance’s policies and settings are designed so organisations can implement expert backup policies without being experts in backup.”

Once operational, the Backup Exec 3600 can store up to 5.5 terabytes of data and does so using RAID 5 technology that ensures data is protected even if a disk drive fails. Off-site backup, or backup to tape, is also possible for businesses which want the extra protection of a copy of their data stored in a separate location.

While many solutions require the IT team to integrate multiple solutions for tape, disk, dedupe, physical, virtual snapshots and backup, Symantec appliances are typically installed in less than 30 minutes and deliver integrated hardware, software and dedupe storage, providing customers with simplicity and performance from one vendor. The Backup Exec 3600 appliance is a modern approach to backup.

The appliance also includes a redundant disk drive of its own, to ensure the Backup Exec software is always operational.

Some additional features include:

  • Next      Gen Backup User Experience:      Changes the way backups are managed by organising them around systems and      information. The Backup Exec 3600 appliance’s policies and settings are      designed so organisations can implement expert backup policies without      being experts in backup.
  • Symantec      V-Ray: Unites virtual and physical      backups to deliver single-pass backups of VMware, Hyper-V and the physical      hosts they run on so users can recover virtual machines, applications,      databases, files, folders and even granular objects in seconds.
  • Free      Disaster Recovery Built-In:      Integrated bare metal recovery includes Backup-to-Virtual (B2V) and      Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) conversion technologies to allow users to      recover a failed system to a VMware or Hyper-V guest. All Backup Exec      customers who upgrade to BE 2012 have access to this at no cost.
  • Tape-Out      Support: Backup Exec 3600 appliance has      added tape support for additional longer-term or offsite data protection.
  • Data      Deduplication: Users can protect more data      while reducing storage by up to 90 percent and improve backup performance      through integrated deduplication and archiving technology.

“This appliance is designed to meet the needs of mid to large sized businesses which want to protect their data,” Smith said. “A mid-sized business with a lot of files to protect will find everything it needs, and so will a larger organisation that needs to protect several virtual servers. Both will find maximum performance, ample capacity and most importantly of all, easy procedures to recover data.”

“That all adds up to better backup, and we believe Australian businesses will appreciate the peace of mind to be able to stop worrying about backup and instead put their energy into using the data stored on this appliance to build their bottom lines,” Smith added.

Better Backup for All and Appliances Momentum

Since launching its Better Backup for All initiative in February:

  • In      the last 12 months Symantec has seen 1,550 percent growth in new appliance      customers and 1,800 percent growth in the number of units shipped.
  • Many      customers who have purchased Symantec appliances are coming back for more,      with sales figures showing 16 percent of purchases have been from repeat      customers.
