LG Optimus 7 opens Windows for Optus customers
LG’s revolutionary device utilising Windows Phone 7 to be available on the Optus network
Sydney, Australia – October 12th, 2010: LG Electronics (LG) today announced the Australian launch of the LG Optimus 7, which will be available on the Optus network from late October.
Offering the glance-and-go experience of Windows Phone 7, the LG Optimus 7 boasts unique features to build upon Microsoft’s highly anticipated new mobile operating-system. The LG Optimus 7 will give people the ability to do more in fewer steps.
The LG Optimus 7 stands out from the crowd with exceptional abilities. The five megapixel camera not only captures brilliant imagery but acts as an informative tour-guide with the use of Augmented Reality. Simply tilt the device’s camera towards the ground for a localised map, ahead for useful points of interest overlaid onto what is seen, or to the sky for the latest weather forecast. Real-time information about shopping, dining, weather, entertainment and much more is merely at the tilt of the LG Optimus 7.
‘Play To’, another intuitive feature of the LG Optimus 7, utilises DLNA* to allow users to wirelessly share digital content with other DLNA-enabled devices at the flick of a finger**. Stunning 720p HD video can be captured and played-back on the Optimus 7’s 3.8 inch screen, uploaded to social media for sharing with friends or scrutinised with family offline on the lounge room TV.
“The LG Optimus 7 has been designed to include a truly immersive yet sharable experience via the new Windows Phone 7 platform,” said Nathan Dunn, General Manager, Mobile Communications, LG Australia. “Available through Optus, the LG Optimus 7 is the result of a close collaboration with Microsoft to ensure users seamlessly play, share, store and stay in touch with the world.”
Phil Offer, Marketing Director of Optus Small and Medium Business said, “Optus is pleased to support the launch of Microsoft Windows Phone 7 by offering the LG Optimus 7 to our customers. As a leading provider of smartphones, our aim is to provide businesses and consumers with greater value and choice to match the right smartphone with their individual needs – the LG Optimus 7 is a welcome addition to enhance our smartphone range.”
LG has optimised Windows Phone 7 to offer the best mobile multimedia experience complemented by a highly-customisable and intuitive operating system. Links to Microsoft’s popular Xbox LIVE service allows for direct access to the users’ favourite games, while seamless integration with Microsoft Outlook and other Office products ensures the LG Optimus 7 is more than capable to cater for work and play time.
Social media is integrated into LG’s latest device as the People Hub unites contact information, Windows Live and Facebook status updates and photos in a single list for one handy view to see what your family and friends are up to.
“With Windows Phone 7 we have redesigned the smartphone. The focus is on people and what we do every day – the friends we connect with, the games we play and the way we interact with each other – making every-day tasks easier and faster,” said Tracey Fellows, managing director, Microsoft Australia
With a battery amongst the largest for Windows Phone 7 devices and 16GB of memory, the LG Optimus 7 introduces a new era for smartphones in today’s digital lifestyle.
