TRUE GLAMOUR NEVER FADES GREY GARDENS

INSIDE THE INCREDIBLE WORLD OF JACKIE O’S RELATIVES

AVAILABLE IN STORES 1 DECEMBER 2010 FOR $34.95RRP

DVD INCLUDES AN AUDIO COMMENTARY WITH THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS AND A FEATURETTE THAT COMPARES AND CONTRASTS THE FILM WITH THE ORIGINAL 1975 DOCUMENTARY

Highlighted by memorable performances from two-time Golden Globe® nominee Drew Barrymore (Going the Distance, He’s Just Not That Into You) and two-time Academy Award® winner Jessica Lange (Tootsie, Blue Sky), the HBO Films drama Grey Gardens tells the tender and intimate story of “Little Edie” and “Big Edie” Beale, two charming eccentrics who were relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Out in stores from 1 December 2010, the DVD includes an audio commentary with the executive producers and a featurette comparing and contrasting the film with the original 1975 documentary.

Filmmakers Albert and David Maysles catapulted the two women from virtual obscurity to cult status in the 1975 documentary that showed the mother and daughter living in squalor and near isolation in their decaying 28-room mansion. Thirty-five years later and interested in what transpired in the years before the documentary, director/writer Michael Sucsy’s original story for Grey Gardens offers a wry, behind-the-scenes look at the reclusive Beales that spans over four decades. Using the documentary of the same name as a framework, the film focuses on the downward spiral of their lives – from their glamorous, high society days in the 30’s to the 70’s and the circumstance behind their dwindling wealth and grasp on reality – and eventual financial rescue by their niece and cousin, Jackie O.

Grey Gardens co-stars Jeanne Tripplehorn (Big Love® from HBO) as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Ken Howard (Michael Clayton) as Phelan Beale, Malcolm Gets (Caroline in the City) as George “Gould” Strong, Daniel Baldwin (Mulholland Falls) as Julius “Cap” Krug, and Arye Gross (Gone in Sixty Seconds) and Justin Louis (Saw IV and V) as the Maysles brothers. Teleplay by Michael Sucsy and Patricia Rozema, directed by Michael Sucsy, executive produced by Lucy Barzun Donnelly, Rachael Horovitz and Michael Sucsy, and produced by David Coatsworth.

Special Features:

  • · Audio commentary with executive producers Michael Sucsy, Lucy Barzun Donnelly and
