BORED TO DEATH – THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON

Available in stores from 1 December 2010, for $39.95RRP

Based on the Semi-Autobiographical Musings of Acclaimed Author Jonathan Ames

Meet Jonathan Ames: writer, romantic, unlicensed private detective. After his girlfriend leaves him and breaks his heart, he decides to live out his fantasy of moonlighting as a PI – just like his favourite noir crime heroes. Called “witty and deliberately offbeat…quirky…(and) charming” (The New York Observer), Bored to Death: The Complete First Season will be released on 1 December 2010 by Warner Home Video.

The 2-disc Blu-ray and DVD sets each contain entertaining bonus features including a guided tour of the New York sets by Jonathan Ames and Jason Schwartzman, a “Making of” piece and audio commentaries, and will retail for $49.95RRP and $39.95RRP respectively.

Blending neurotic humor and noir mystery elements, Bored to Death follows Ames (Jonathan Schwartzman, The Darjeeling Limited) as he solves a variety of cases in the Big Apple – despite the fact that he’s virtually inexperienced as a private detective. Jonathan pursues each case with gusto, though very little discretion, abandoning all sense of reality and avoiding work on his regular writing gig and second novel. The all-star cast also include Ames’s needy boss, George, (Ted Danson, Curb Your Enthusiasm®), who constantly interferes with his newfound career; as well as his best friend Ray, (Zach Galifianakis, The Hangover), who tries his best to advise him, while barely keeping his own life together.

Bored to Death is the brainchild of storyteller, actor and acclaimed author Jonathan Ames (The Alcoholic), whose fascination with noir writers like Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett led him to write a short story in 2007, which then became the basis for the series. Ames also serves as executive producer and writer of the show.
