Leading casual game publisher takes a big bite out of the Apple games market with release of captivating mystery thriller
ALEXANDRIA, Va. August 13, 2010 — Alawar Entertainment, one of the world’s leading publishers of casual games, drew blood yesterday with the release of Vampire Saga: Pandora’s Box for the iPhone and iPad. The company hopes to repeat the success of Hotel Mogul, the No. 2 selling application on the iPad, with this captivating mystery thriller for Apple’s mobile digital devices.
Following the tradition of the best Hammer horror movies and classic novels by H.P. Lovecraft, Vampire Saga casts the player in the role of Matthew Ward, a young man who steals aboard a cargo ship to escape the violence of the Spanish-American War. After passing out for no apparent reason, he wakes up to find himself alone with several sinister-looking coffins. Where did the crew go? Why is Matthew having strange visions? And why does he feel like he’s being watched?
To answer these and other questions, the player must explore several creepy Victorian-era locations, search for over 300 hidden objects, and follow a story full of nerve-pricking encounters. Along the way, atmospheric music and sound effects immerse players in the events unfolding on their iPhone or iPad.
“With a spine-chilling crime at the center of its spellbinding story, this game is not intended for the faint of heart!” says Kirill Plonikov, Alawar’s Vice President of Publishing. “But if you like eerie adventures full of twists and turns and startling secrets, Vampire Saga: Pandora’s Box will be right up your alley!”
iPhone and iPod Touch users can purchase the full version of Vampire Saga for $2.99. Vampire Saga for the iPad costs $6.99. Owners of either device can download a free lite version from the iTunes App Store.
