Aussie kids get set to smash Guinness World Record during World Maths Day on Wednesday 3rd March

1 March 2010: More than 300,000 students from 3,000, schools across Australia will be taking part in World Maths Day on Wednesday 3rd March, with hundreds of students visiting Apple retail stores around the country to compete in the event using the iPhone, iPod touch and Macs.
Australian students will join more than two million from 227 countries who are expected to log on and take part as they attempt to break a Guinness World Record™ for the Largest Online Maths Competition.

World Maths Day is the world’s largest education event where students (aged 5-18) compete in real time against other students from around the world playing mental arithmetic games on the World Maths Day website (www.worldmathsday.com). The event has already attracted more 1.5 million students this year, and is expected to break the world record set in 2009 in which close to two million students from 204 countries correctly answered 452,681,681 questions. 
The event encourages students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to have a go at maths in a fun, interactive and accessible way. For the first time in 2010, teachers and parents are invited to participate in the event and test their maths skills. Participants can also take part in World Maths Day on their iPhone and iPod touch.
