Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland comes to IMAX Melbourne Museum

Tim Burton fans can see his latest fantasy adventure on the biggest 3D screen in the southern hemisphere when Alice In Wonderland comes to IMAX Melbourne Museum on 4 March, 2010.

“If ever there was a film that cried out to be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and the premium IMAX 3D format, Tim Burton’s fantastic interpretation of Alice in Wonderland is that film,” said Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group.

“This is going to be an eye-popping cinematic experience as Tim takes moviegoers down the rabbit hole and into the dimensional world filled with incredible characters, sly humor, and wild adventures. Disney’s partnership with IMAX is taking shape with two amazing films already on the schedule. We look forward to working with them in bringing exciting new experiences and quality entertainment to IMAX screens around the world.”

Visionary filmmaker Tim Burton has put his distinctive touch on the combination live-action and performance capture version of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale Alice in Wonderland.

Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter and Australian Mia Wasikowska as 19 year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, re-uniting with her childhood friends – the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat and of course the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror.

The all-star cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Crispin Glover.

Alice In Wonderland: An IMAX 3D Experience marks the halfway point in a five-picture movie agreement between IMAX and Disney, announced on 19 November, 2008. The Disney movie slate begun with the Disney’s A Christmas Carol 3D release in November last year.
