Armageddon Multi Media Expo breaks previous crowd record by 50%

For Immediate Release: Monday October 26, 2009.

More than 13,500 science fiction, fantasy and anime fans have flocked to the 2009 Armageddon Multi Media Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, making this year’s event the biggest in the expo’s history.

The success of this year’s show has cemented the event for 2010 and organisers have also confirmed they will now create a version of the expo for Sydney-siders, which will be held at Town Hall on March 21, 2010.

Bill Geradts from the Armageddon Multi Media Expo said the event which was held on October 17 and 18, was a huge success with the creators of Robot Chicken, Seth Green, Matthew Senreich and Tom Root a major draw card for the show which drew 9,000 people in 2008.

“We conduct the Armageddon Multi Media Expo all over New Zealand and the Melbourne event has now become the biggest ever,” Geradts said, “The event attracted a record crowd of 13, 500 which is 50 percent more than last year. Science fiction, gaming and anime are continuing to become more main-stream and accepted by the wider community.”

“Thousands of people attended the event to meet with their favourite celebrities including Seth Green, Matt Senreich and Tom Root from Robot Chicken and Christopher Heyerdahl, Bronson Pelletier and Cameron Bright from the soon be released Twilight sequel, New Moon.”

“Due to popular demand and the feedback we received at the event we have decided to hold a ‘taster’ event in Sydney in March next year with a full scale expo to be conducted in 2011.  The expansion is a result of the success of the events in New Zealand and the Melbourne show which keeps going from strength-to-strength,” Geradts explained.

The date for the 2010 Armageddon Multi Media Expo in Melbourne will be released in the coming weeks.  Visit www.armageddonexpo.com/au for more information.
