Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination

Could cars that hover above the ground become the mass transit of the future?  Will we ever have droids like       C-3PO in real life? Fantasy and reality join forces in Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination. This is the first exhibition to showcase more than 80 costumes, models and props from all six Star Wars films.

Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, presented by Bose Corporation, was developed by the Museum of Science, Boston and Lucasfilm Ltd. Model Solar Vehicle Challenge – Victorian state final

Join school teams as they race their model boats and cars to see who is the ‘fastest under the Sun’. This event encourages young people to explore the potential of solar energy though the construction of working models and boasts some of the finest achievements in technology and science of Victorian school children.

Going Places: The Technology of Transport

Pilot an airship through sky hoops, ride the hovercraft and land a plane on the flight simulator. Find out how travel has shaped society and put yourself to the test with a multitude of transport challenges. With more than 20 hands-on exhibits, Going Places is a wild ride. This unique exhibition explores the way mankind has developed new transport technology to overcome gravity, distance and the division of continents to move us around the globe.

Toys: Science at Play 

What makes a spinning top stay upright? Why do magnets attract iron? How does a doll talk? This popular interactive exhibition returns to Scienceworks and includes robots, dolls, hula hoops, building blocks, toy timelines and kaleidoscopes. This exhibition provides plenty of opportunities for all ages with enquiring minds to tinker with toys.  Developed by Scienceworks and Scitech, Perth

Children’s Week Machines in Action Day

Celebrate Children’s Week with Machines in Action Day.  Ride on a model steam train and see historic vehicles in action. Items on display include the Cowley Steam Traction Engine, the only working Australian made traction engine in the world, along with the KL Bulldog Tractor and other historic machinery on parade. The day also includes hay-baling demonstrations and tours of the historic Pumping Station.

Mathamazing

Explore the mathematics behind everyday life. Mathamazing includes hands-on activities based on topics such as shapes, probability, sequences and series, puzzles, problem solving, topology and building.

Mini Car 50th Anniversary Display

Celebrate the Mini’s 50th anniversary and see Museum Victoria’s own 1964 998cc Morris Mini Cooper. This Mini was purchased by Museum Victoria in 1984 with 40,000 miles on the odometer. The revolutionary design and sales success of the Mini provided the impetus for the development of the modern small car and became a design icon.
