Laura Dern returns to her Golden Globe™ winning role as a woman on the verge of a “nervous breakthrough” as the second season of HBO comedy/drama Enlightened comes to DVD from September 11th.
In the first season of Enlightened, Amy Jellicoe (series creator Laura Dern), a formerly ruthless and ambitious executive at global conglomerate Abaddonn, returns to her life “spiritually re-awakened” after a career-destroying meltdown at work forced her to take some time off. Having re-evaluated her life Amy has now discovered a singular, and at times hilariously misguided, mission to make her corporation more responsible. However, her newfound wisdom is having far from harmonious results, indeed they only seem to end up wreaking havoc on those around her.
At the climax of the first season, Amy finally presented her secret research into the company’s misconduct and “toxic” sins only to be laughed out of the room. Now, as the second season begins, she is more determined than ever to expose the company as a polluting bastion of greed and corruption as with the aid of Tyler (series co-creator Mark White), her meek and mild ally from the IT department, and journalist Jeff Flender (guest star Dermot Mulroney) whom she has enlisted to write a searing expose on the company, Amy sets out to find the evidence that will bring her company to justice once and for all.
Meanwhile, Amy’s ex, Levi (Luke Wilson), continues to struggle with rehab, and it remains to be seen if he will embrace recovery and return as the man she always wanted him to be.
Enlightened The Complete Second Season, including all eight episodes and special features such as audio commentaries and Inside the episode featurettes, will be available on DVD from September 11th. RRP $39.95. Watch The Trailer
