Samsung Australia Introduces the GALAXY S4 Active

SYDNEY, Australia – August 22nd, 2013 – Samsung Electronics Australia today announced the local availability of GALAXY S4 Active, a new addition to the GALAXY smartphone range designed specifically for active users who want to stay connected while in a range of environments that would challenge the functions of most other mobile devices.
The GALAXY S4 Active is fitted with a range of design specifications and features that will offer users with much of the functionality of the already popular GALAXY S4 smartphone in a durable form that can operate in a range of rugged environments.

Recognising the demands of a dynamic lifestyle, the GALAXY S4 Active was engineered to keep users connected as they explore and experience the world around them. The smartphone device has qualified resistance from dust and water (IP67*), to help users to bring their device with them when going to the beach or for a bush walk. The design helps keeps dust particles out and helps protect against water damage for up to 30 minutes of submergence at a depth of one metre.
The GALAXY S4 Active is equipped with a water-resistant earphone jack that helps users use earphones in more adventurous conditions. Whether capturing moments on a rafting trip or taking underwater photos in the pool*, the device’s construction helps users capture moments previously impossible using most other smartphones.

‘S Travel (Trip Advisor)’* offers travel assistance, local information, and recommendations to help provide a seamless experience in an unfamiliar environment. ‘S Translator’^ helps make international travel easy by providing text or voice translation for emails and text messages.
The camera interface is designed to make capturing and sharing meaningful moments intuitive with multiple shooting modes including ‘Drama Shot,’ which allows users to see all the action in one continuous time-lapse, and ‘Sound & Shot,’ which stores sound and voice together with the image to capture the moment in an immersive audio-visual format.
With ‘Story Album’, photos taken with the GALAXY S4 Active are collected and sorted according to a user’s timeline or geo-tagging information to help create an organised photo album. To help facilitate sharing content from the device, users can also use the ‘Group Play’~ function to enjoy music, photos, documents and games between various compatible devices including GALAXY S4 and GALAXY S4 mini.
‘Samsung Smart Pause’ enables users to control the screen using optical cues. While watching a video, the video pauses when the user looks away and starts up again when returning to view. ‘Air View’** lets the user preview the content of an email by simply hovering fingers over the screen. With ‘Air Gesture’, the user can change music tracks, scroll up and down on a web page, or accept a call with a simple wave of the hand. The ‘S Health’^^ feature helps users keep track of personal health statistics.

Through ‘WatchON’***, the GALAXY S4 Active also offers a broad selection of entertainment content including live TV, cable TV and video on demand, facilitated by the rich digital context provided by Samsung’s EPG (Electronic Program Guide) system.
‘ChatON’***, connects and facilitates group chats, media sharing and interacting in creative new ways using pictures, hand drawings or figures across mobile devices. Further enhancing the device’s sharing capabilities; users can use ‘Samsung Link’~ to share and sync content across multiple compatible Samsung digital devices.
Pricing and Availability
The Samsung GALAXY S4 Active is available now for RRP $699 at the Samsung Experience Stores in both Melbourne and Sydney and will be made available on contract through Vodafone. The device will also be made available to purchase outright from a range of mobile retailers around Australia.
The Samsung GALAXY S4 Active will be offered in urban grey. Each device comes with an additional orange back cover which can be changed.
