Oz Comic-Con will deliver a galaxy of stars to devoted fans in Melbourne – with Cary Elwes, Shannen Doherty and Patricia Quinn headlining!
Oz Comic-Con Melbourne: July 6th and 7th, 2013
Royal Exhibition Building – 9 Nicholson St, Carlton
9am-6pm, both days
Proud geeks, cosplayers, and comic book collectors unite… Oz Comic-Con 2013 is coming back to Melbourne this July. Along for the ride this year is cult actor Cary Elwes (Westley/The Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride and Robin Hood in Robin Hood: Men in Tights), television icon Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210’s Brenda Walsh and Charmed’s eldest Halliwell sister, Prue) and Patricia Quinn (Magenta from The Rocky Horror Picture Show).
Elwes, Doherty and Quinn (who was in Australia in March for the hugely successful Oz Comic-Con Perth and Adelaide conventions) will be joined by a long list of international and local guests for the two-day Oz Comic-Con Melbourne event, which will take place on July 6 and 7.
A pop cultural experience on an epic scale, Oz Comic-Con made its debut in 2012 to record-breaking crowds in Adelaide and Melbourne. Drawing numbers as big as 35,000 in its first year, the 2013 tour has already seen over 27,000 people turn out in Perth and over 25,000 in Adelaide. Inconceivable? Oz Comic-Con does not think that means what you think that means!
Now it’s Melbourne’s turn for a taste of geek heaven, and Oz Comic-Con is set to cast a spell bigger and better than ever before. A new and larger venue, extra seating allocations in each auditorium, expanded floor space for vendor stalls and more of the guests that fans have asked to see – Oz Comic-Con Melbourne plans to deliver all this and more to returning convention-goers and new attendees alike.
Other Oz Comic-Con Melbourne guests that will have fans geeking out include Doherty’s Charmed co-stars Holly Marie Combs and Brian Krause, actor Thomas Dekker (John Connor from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Adam Conant from The Secret Circle), puppeteer and actor Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi) and the über-talented Tia Carrere (Wayne’s World, Relic Hunter) – alongside a growing list of international and local film, TV, animation, illustration and comic stars.
With more guests to be confirmed over the coming months and so much to experience at the convention, it seems that Oz Comic-Con has once again heard fan’s requests and simply said, “As you wish!”
