SYDNEY, Australia – 6 November 2012 – Symantec today announced the appointment of Tim Bentley as the new regional sales director for the Symantec.cloud business in the Pacific region. Based in Sydney, Bentley will be responsible for expanding the company’s market presence and accelerating new business opportunities with customers looking to utilise cloud-based offerings.
Prior to this promotion, Bentley was the regional sales manager for the Symantec.cloud business where he helped customers move to the cloud by removing some of their IT budgetary and operational constraints. In this role, Bentley drove the delivery of the Symantec.cloud sales strategy in Australia and New Zealand, and was responsible for managing both the enterprise and SMB cloud sales teams.
Bentley has more than 12 years of experience in the IT industry and has played a crucial role in making Symantec.cloud solutions accessible for businesses throughout Australia and New Zealand. Prior to his time at Symantec.cloud, Bentley worked for MessageLabs UK, where he headed up enterprise sales in the Australian market, and Cable & Wireless where he coordinated specialist sales teams.
“Tim brings a wealth of experience to the regional sales director role. His strategic knowledge of the Symantec.cloud portfolio will be of great benefit for our local sales teams as well as customers and partners,” said Brenton Smith, vice president & managing director, Pacific Region, Symantec.
“We are continuing to grow and expand our portfolio of cloud services in Australia and New Zealand by bringing more of Symantec’s technologies to the cloud, offering customers flexibility of choice and increased service manageability. Most recently we have focused on growing web security, archiving and endpoint protection services and are now investing in data loss prevention and backup solutions,” said Bjorn Engelhardt, vice president, Specialist Solutions, Asia Pacific and Japan, Symantec.
“Since establishing a presence in Australia in 2003, the Symantec.cloud business has been hugely successful,” said Bentley, regional sales director, Symantec.cloud, Pacific region. “We are proud to count 14 of the top 15 banks as customers and are able to provide the same shared services with guaranteed outcomes and service level agreements to all sizes and all types of businesses.”
“Today many of our customers invest in Symantec.cloud solutions not only for our email and web security solutions but also for our email archiving solutions, such as EnterpriseVault.cloud, which is driving rapid growth for us in the Australian and New Zealand markets, as companies look to resolve email archiving headaches for good.”
More than 11 million end users at more than 55,000 organisations ranging from small businesses to the Fortune 500 use Symantec.cloud to secure and manage information stored on endpoints and delivered via email, web, and instant messaging.
