New gamified functionality delivers more of what fans want with over 550,000 downloads so far
Downloads increased by 25,000 in August
Sydney, Australia, 27 September, 2012 – Yahoo!7 today announced the latest release of FANGO, Australia’s leading Social TV app, with new features including Leaderboards, which allow fans to compete to be the ‘Number One Fan’ of shows they love.
Kristin Carlos, Head of Yahoo!7 TV said, “FANGO’s new release introduces our next phase of gamification to engage and reward fans for their participation. The introduction of Leaderboards allows fans to compare point totals with other FANGO users and compete to be the biggest fan of the shows they enjoy watching.” “Fans have shown how much they love to participate in polls and trivia with 50,604 FANGO polls 93,753 trivia questions answered in August alone,” Kristin continued.
“We’re also seeing how brands can integrate their campaigns with FANGO. Since July, FANGO has supported a number of high profile campaigns from Nissan, Coca-Cola and McDonalds. There has been an overwhelming response and further highlights how fans want to be involved in the shows they are passionate about.”
Overall downloads of FANGO increased by over 25,000 in the past month, with increased functionality and gamification being added to the app in time for the AFL finals and the live X Factor shows on Seven. User statistics show 60 percent of FANGO users are on iPhone, 34 percent iPad and six percent use Android devices.

- Overall since launch FANGO has secured over 1.2 million check-ins
- 537,000 downloads
- 62 percent of show ‘check-ins’ are during prime time shows – 7pm to 11pm
- In August 2012, 50,604 FANGO polls were completed and 93,753 trivia questions answered
- 34,996 badges were awarded to fans based on their levels of interaction – up threefold since June
