The world’s first event for global social change film “Stand In My Shoes” directed by long-time Michael Moore collaborator, Kurt Engfehr (Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling For Columbine, The Yes Men), will have its crowd-funding campaign launch on Friday August 24 2012 at the Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club.

Hosted comedian, Tommy Dean, supported by special guests Phil Gould and Surf Aid, the event includes complimentary food and beverage courtesy of the Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club and guests will be the first to witness the trailer for “Stand In My Shoes”.

Fund raising for the film will launch on US based crowd-funding platform www.kickstarter.com – only recently made available to Australian film-makers, the website has already generated $250 million in funding to various projects and up to 24,000 projects have been successfully funded since its inception in April 2009. Funds raised via www.kickstarter.com will go towards establishing production units in Australia, India and the US and to support a new story telling platform for film-makers to contribute to the content of the film.

“Stand In My Shoes” is a film about what US President Barack Obama termed the “empathy deficit” and follows the journey of three film-makers, Anna Reeves, Elizabeth Nakano and Vivienne Somers as they seek to expose the empathy deficit and conversely find out what the world’s most influential “social revolutionaries” including acclaimed neuroscientist, Professor William Mobley and Australia’s very own Craig Davis, the Chief Creative Officer from Publicis Mojo and co-founder of Brand Karma, are doing to bring the heart back into our social structures.

Make a positive change to society and pledge your support by attending the empathy revolution launch event. Be one of the first of 500 Executives Producers to receive a credit in the film – simply by pledging your financial support to this much-needed and timely global change movie.
