Australian Geographic Presents Revolutionary App and Playing Cards that Bring Animals and Monsters to Life

Australian Geographic presents the hottest toy to hit our shores this year. Launching today through all Australian Geographic’s retail and online stores is Silicon Valley’s very own Nukotoys™ magical collectable trading cards that won the top gong at the New York Toy Fair earlier this year.  Featuring exotic animals and mythological monsters, the inexpensive jaw dropping new game, captivates a child’s imagination as creatures miraculously come to life on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch device, when Nukotoys™ cards are tapped to the screen.

In an era where iPod Touch was last year’s most requested Christmas toy; the revolutionary new app and collectable card games (valued at $6.95 for a pack of seven), Animal Planet: WildLands and Monsterology, marry the charm of old world collectable trading cards, with breakthrough touch screen technology. The products offer an unprecedented gaming and learning experience for children, that is fun first and educational second.

In its first-ever implementation in the gaming market, the products use a ‘touch code’ technology. Thus, when the playing card is placed on the screen, it uses the capacitive energy from the hand, channeling it into a circuit pattern printed into the card. This then becomes readable by the touch screen of the device, just like your fingertips, it appears to magically transfer the data from the card to allow you to play the game!

Claire Robertson, Marketing and eCommerce Manager for Australian Geographic Retail said they were excited about the new educational toy. The product reflects the values of the retail chain and will be key in propelling their stores into the digital age.

“Gone are the days when kids just collect and trade playing cards. They can now bring the characters to life, interact with them and play against family and friends,” Ms. Robertson said.

“A Parent will love watching their six year old get lost in the Serengeti, whilst learning about endangered animals.  Kids will enjoy the colourful cards, the entertaining game play, and trading their Nukotoys cards with their friends.”

Australian Geographic Retail stores have been inspiring the discovery of Australia’s unique and wonderful land since 1991. The store locations and online shopping site offer a wide selection of educational and entertaining science and nature-based games and toys.
