The New Cloud-Based, Social Music Experience from Research In Motion (RIM) Is Now Live In Australia
Australian BlackBerry users should get ready to boogie and share their favorite tunes because BBM Music is now available in Australia.
BBM Music allows BlackBerry users to build an evolving, community-based music library that starts with their own 50-song collection and grows and grows as they share their tunes amongst their BBM Music friends, and vice versa. Full tracks – not just previews. Each user can select and listen to music from a catalogue with millions of songs from leading music companies – Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI – and the size of the shared music library continues to grow as users add new friends.
Download BBM Music from BlackBerry® App World™ for a 30 day free trial. You’ll need to ensure you’ve updated your smartphone with the latest version of BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM™ 6) too. Following the trial, you can sign up for a monthly subscription of $5.99 AUD.
Once you activate BBM Music you can check and see which of your contacts are already groovin’ and who you need to invite to your BBM Music Community so you can expand your music library together.
In August BlackBerry shared the details about BBM Music [original press release], but here are a few highlights to refresh your memory:
- Up to 25 songs can be swapped out each month, so users can keep their collections nice & fresh as they discover new music and share it with their friends.
- Up to 50 tracks from a person’s personal profile are shared with his or her BBM Music Community, and each member of that community shares up to 50 songs from their profile in return.
- You can create multiple playlists from music in your profile as well as all of your friends’ profiles, and with one click you can shuffle the entire collection of music from your BBM Music Community. You can even see which friend contributed each song while it plays and chat about one another’s musical selections.
- The more friends who join the community, the more songs everyone can listen to.
- Music can be saved to smartphones for offline listening, allowing users to access songs even when they don’t have wireless coverage.
For inspiration for your music catalogue selection, check out the list below to see a selection of 50 songs available on BBM Music that were identified by a panel of musicians and music industry experts as their favourite tracks.
