Taking place in Brighton, 1964 – whilst the turf war between the Mods and the Rockers was at its peak – rising star, Sam Reilly (CONTROL) stars as Pinkie Brown, an ambitious young gangster determined to enforce his claim on this sleepy English seaside town. When a rival ends up on the wrong end of Pinkie’s switchblade, an impressionable young waitress, Rose (BAFTA-nominee Andrea Riseborough) comes into possession of vital evidence that would see him sentenced to death.

Initially, in an effort to keep Rose away from the authorities, Pinkie sets out to romance her. But when Rose’s employer, Ida – played by Academy-Award®-winning screen icon, Helen Mirren (THE QUEEN) – becomes aware of the relationship, she is suspicious of Pinkie’s intentions and begins a campaign to thwart his advances.
