“The Tunnel” Continues to Break New Ground as The First Australian Movie to be Available as an iPad App
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA…June 8, 2011
In another first for the horror flick of 2011, “The Tunnel” has become the only Australian film to be available for download on the iPad platform.
Working in partnership with the film distribution platform MoPix, “The Tunnel’s” innovative iPad application download contains the entire movie, “Meet the Cast” behind the scenes extras, exclusive behind the scenes photo gallery offering never-before-seen images and social media integration.
It is available now via the iPad App Store for $9.99. (AUD)
“It is an interesting time for “The Tunnel” – as well as simultaneous releases via traditional platforms on May 18 2011, we are now utilising a wider breadth of technological advancement and launching the movie on the iPad to deliver a value-added experience to an even greater audience,” said co-producer/writer, Enzo Tedeschi.
“In partnering with MoPix, over 30 million device owners in 91 territories will now be able to take part in “The Tunnel”’ experience,” said executive producer Ahmed Salama of DLSHS. “Through social media integration via Facebook and Twitter, our fans will also be able to share their experiences with their friends which is what this project has always been all about.”
“We’re excited to work with “The Tunnel’s” team on one of the first MoPix releases and distribute the movie on this new platform”, says MoPix Founder and CEO Ryan Stoner. “It’s a great film with a lot of great extra content for filmgoers. We’re looking forward to building upon the app so there’s more to come for “The Tunnel” fans.”
Off the back of its sell-out Popcorn Taxi and festival screenings, “The Tunnel” will make its way to the big screen, scaring film-goers starting June 8 2001, at 7.30pm for four weeks at Hoyts EQ in Sydney, Australia.

The award-winning “The Tunnel” has attracted international and local interest based on its unique crowd-funding and not so traditional distribution model – the film is already reaching the largest audience ever for an independent Australian film, with a simultaneous release via the BitTorrent online network, a cinema release, 2-disc DVD set and an Australian PAY-TV broadcast earlier this month.
