Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is proud to announce Guy Sebastian as its Australian ambassador for the release of Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition – available from 11 March 2009 on DVD and Blu-ray™.
The Malaysian born singer songwriter, whose rise to fame began when he won Australian Idol in 2003, is thrilled to be an ambassador for the Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition and is the perfect voice to speak about the importance of believing in your dreams.
Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition boasts some of Disney’s most memorable characters and the enchanting theme song When you Wish upon a Star. Guy reflects on Pinocchio with great fondness, recalling the title as a beloved favourite during childhood.
“When I was growing up I loved Disney movies, especially Pinocchio. I remember almost wearing out the VHS as I followed Pinocchio on his fun-filled journey many, many times,” Guy says.
“Pinocchio taught me to believe in myself and reach for the stars. Having started singing in a choir at 14 years old, I held true to these values throughout my journey to becoming a professional artist and I know they will stay with me as I continue to strive for bigger and better things in life,” he says.
“My experience in the industry thus far has taught me the importance of always being loyal, honest and true – these are attributes that pertain to any industry, to all of us, at any age. Pinocchio demonstrates this lesson very clearly and sends a positive message to all who watch it,” Guy says.
Since becoming the first Australian Idol winner, Guy has released four top four albums and seven top twenty singles in addition to selling over a million albums and singles in Australia alone. Guy also appeared on It Takes Two with Olympic Swimmer Sarah Ryan and won the publicly voted Fave Aussie Gong at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards three years in a row from 2005 to 2007.
A family favourite, the re-mastered version of Pinocchio tells the tale of Geppetto’s beloved puppet – with Jiminy Cricket as his guide – on a thrilling quest that tests Pinocchio’s bravery, loyalty and honesty, virtues he must learn to become a real boy.
In addition to enhanced sound and vision, the re-mastered Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition on Disney DVD and Blu-ray™ boasts spectacular bonus materials including deleted scenes, Gepetto’s Then and Now, No Strings Attached: The Making of Pinocchio, Live action reference footage, deleted song Honest John and a collection of theatrical trailers.
