Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition

Man this game is fast! The Midnight Club series has partnered up with DUB Magazine to bring you one of the most fast paced titles that you will have come across in some time with a unique perspective on automotive lifestyle thrown in for good measure.

From the slick opening through to actual gameplay MC3 works well on a lot of levels that are sure to have fans of the series realize that this is a very nice jump forward in terms of overall style and content. Add to this the fact that there is now a lot more traffic on the wider streets in this incarnation and you know that there is something special under the hood of this baby.

Fans will know that the focus of the game is primarily that of an arcade style racing arrangement, but with MC3 you can also upgrade your vehicle with your prize money. Not that this is a new feature but there is a tiered system to which you can upgrade your vehicle. It’s pretty neat and makes it easier for those who might not be fully into cars. I equate the experience to upgrading for novices.

Customisation of your car from an aesthetic viewpoint is pretty time intensive with many many options available for you to choose from. This is time consuming and unless you are a nut for this sort of thing many gamers will simply skip it above some quick tweaks here and there.

Gameplay is determined by what you want to achieve with specific race types needing to be won in order for game progression to occur. There are also a number of races where you will find yourself needing particular vehicles in order to participate in the race. You can win these by going in tournaments that seem to pop as you need them in order to go on with the title. It’s neat and there is a real feeling of making your way through a journey of sorts.

Online is fun and I like the fact that Xbox MC3 supports Voice in order for me to talk smack to my opposition. It’s well set out and will not be overwhelming for new gamers or experienced ones alike. MC3 really supports the mentality of simply opening the box and playing the game. It’s fantastic.

Graphically the title is as sexy as ever with the already mentioned customization options really fleshing out the opportunity to make the most of a good looking ride. The visuals really give the impression of extreme speed with appropriate blurring and light work that highlights the capabilities of your vehicle.

Audio rules with this game with an amazing soundtrack combining with screech of tyres and the rev of engines. It’s almost got a life unto itself and certainly ups the ante as far as your concentration factor is concerned. Try playing the game through 5.1 and prepared to have your socks rocked right the hell off!

This game would be a keeper with it’s fast paced action but even moreso when you then realize that the entire world waits out there through Xbox online. It’s fantastic, competitive and has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition rocks, plain and simple and there is no reason it’s not in your collection today.

Get it.
