Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil
Welcome back to Mars hombre. A squad of marines and engineers are sent
back to the red planet to find out what the heck happened during the
events of Doom 3. I mean really, how stupid are the UAC? Fortunately
stupid enough that we have a second game to enjoy that builds nicely on
the first.
Now
although there are differences between this title and the last, they are
not very noticeable. There are new monsters and weapons that bring some
nice twists to the title including a grabber type weapon that can catch
enemy fire and hurl it back to them. In some cases your foes can only be
knocked off using this technique. It’s a sweet weapon and really fun in
it’s application.
Possibly one of the coolest toys is the “artifact” that you have. It
appears to be some sort of heart that has the ability to leech power
from the bodies of the dead! Once charged you can slow down time in
order to get out of almost any difficult situation or trap.
For
those of you who missed out on the collectors edition of Doom 3 on Xbox
the bonus is that you will get the classic Doom levels that were on
there, and for those of you who did get it, well then there is something
for you also as the Doom Master Levels are there! These were not on the
collectors so love them the way you should! It’s a great way to explore
how this great game came to be.
Resurrection does not add much to the first Doom 3, nor really does it
pretend to be. You are back in the same area, fighting almost the same
monsters with a few exceptions with a couple of new weapons. Sounds
uninspired doesn’t it? Wrong. It’s so much fun and a perfect addition to
the title for those of you who cannot get enough of their doom action.
Make
sure you step out now and get this title if you love your first person
shooters as RoE is just damn fun and deserves a spot next to your copy
of Doom 3!
