An Aussie Summer
This delightful book by author Michael Wagner that is illustrated by Tom Jellett is all about an ‘Aussie’ summer as we follow a boy by the name of Mitch who explains to the reader that although there are four awesome seasons in a year, he gives us the reasons on why he LOVES summer.
As we follow Mitch on his summer adventure and why he loves summer, he adds that in summer there is no school and he can play games like backyard cricket, play a game of Marco… POLO or go swimming at the pool. Furthermore, summer is all about ice cream, bedtimes get messed up, we have barbecues, go on holidays and the family is all together.
Not only is this book well written by the author (lots of ‘Aussie’ colloquialisms) but the illustrations really brings the summer of Mitch to life and more importantly, this story highlights all the fun Australian institutions of what makes this season great in our country. The book ends with Mitch stating that he wishes that summer could last forever… and don’t we all?
