Rock On

If ever there was a product made for me, the Victrola Rock Speaker Connect is it. To explain, I spend oodles of time outdoors with my young son shooting hoops, throwing a football around, and/or any other fun active trouble the two of us can come up with. Listening to music via Bluetooth speaker while engaging in such activities is a wonderful backdrop to our follies, also a great way of passively introducing him to different music I enjoy.

As I live in the very sunny and often wet Southeastern United States, environment resiliency is a must for outdoor speakers. Heat, occasional drizzle, pollen and dust are regular occurrences during our play times. Our weapon of choice is the Sonos Move, IP65 compliant and can withstand the occasional ball hitting it head on.

Welcome with a warm hug, Victrola Rock Speaker Connect. This surprisingly large Bluetooth, dual charging (solar and USB C) speaker is the outside partner I never knew I needed. It comes in three different colors to match your décor of preference, with an option to link up to 20 speakers together to create a whole outdoor environment of sound.

The Rock Speaker Connect is definitely up to our climate challenge, extremely durable, weighty, and USB port protected by a heavy duty rubber cover. This same rubber cover protects the power, Bluetooth and connect buttons, respectively.

Sound is impressive at this price point. At only $99US, the Rock Speaker Connect is a powerful guy, with a thicker grill, wider solar panel, and easy connectivity to iOS. Streaming via Apple Music worked like a champ.

Surprisingly and visually, the Rock Speaker Connect looks, well, like a rock. It doesn’t stand out in a tacky way, and colors can match any design scheme. I’m thinking of our favorite Editor-in-Chief who has a terrific pool setup this is screaming for.

We shall see how well the Rock Speaker Connect holds up to consistent rain, dust and solar panel exposure. I’ve seen so many solar devices fail under regular use, and here’s to hoping this isn’t one of them.

Final Thoughts?

The Rock Speaker Connect is a wonderful solution for outdoor music lovers, especially those who want to take advantage of its connect feature for up to 20 simultaneous devices. It’s well built, surprisingly realistic, and works really well. Yet another win from the peeps at Victrola!
