UNIFY ANCIENT CHINA THROUGH TRANSFORMED BATTLES IN ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE!

Today, KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Kou Shibusawa revealed a series of advanced battle techniques for their highly anticipated strategy game, ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE. The game is currently in development and will be available digitally on 24th October 2024, on Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Windows PC via Steam®.

ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE is based on ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS VIII with Power Up Kit, complete with both the “All Officers Play” and “All Periods Scenarios” features, as well as a host of new content to deliver the most complete Romance of the Three Kingdoms experience to date.

Using the transformed battles of ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE, players will heavily rely on not only on their invading armies, but also on human relationships. In “Parliament”, by selecting “March” to invade enemy towns, players will “Adjust” the units taking part in the battle. Players will have to make decisions about leaders and their deputies along other factors including “Troop Type” such as infantry or heavy cavalry, “Siege Weapons” such as battering rams or breach towers, and “Ships” for crossing water.

As the battlefield includes different terrains such as plains, mountains and rivers, the advantageous organisation of units will therefore be the key to a winning strategy; the selection of officers will affect both the ability of the units as well as the possible tactics and the difficulty of coordination of other units. By considering the relationships between officers, players will be able to form a more powerful army.

Players will also discover that “Conscript” has an impact on both domestic affairs and strategies. Throughout the game, the number of soldiers will gradually increase each season according to the draft population, which will be relative to the city’s population. If players wish to recruit soldiers more quickly, they can select “Conscript” during “Parliament”, but this will also result in a drop in the city’s public order. If the public order falls below a certain level, this can lead to unrest, rebellion and penalties. In addition to deciding between military strength and city stability, this feature also adds depth to the game, as players can apply new strategies such as using stratagems to lower the public order in an enemy city to block their conscription.

Furthermore, players will be able to set traps for incoming armies, deploy ambushes by placing armies out of sight in areas such as forests of rocky terrain, and use defensive buildings such as the “Watchtower”, “Gate” or “Signal Tower”. Each of these buildings will provide unique effects to the defensive side of the battlefield.

“Tactics” from ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS VIII with Power Up kit will also be significantly improved as the categories increase from 15 to over 40, while the effects of the tactics will be revamped and the overall balance adjusted.

Lastly, battles will also feature elements such as “Stratagem” which will have a wide-ranging impact, and “Link Forged” which will allow friendly officers to lead their units in cooperation. By combining these elements with features like “Troop Types” and “Tactics”, players will be able to tackle enemy armies more effectively. In addition, officers with unique battle traits, such as Guan Yu, can create dramatic scenarios in which they wipe out tens of thousands of enemy troops by skilfully combining these elements, allowing for legendary comebacks on the same level as “Battle of Chibi”.

ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE, will be available digitally 24th October 2024 on Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Windows PC via Steam®.
