Top Tech trends to look out for in 2025

Brad Pulford, Vice President & Managing Director, HP ANZ joins Impulse Gamer to discuss the Top Tech trends to look out for in 2025!

As we commence 2025, I’m optimistic about the role that technology, particularly AI, will play in transforming the tech industry and ushering in new ways of working in Australia. We have faced a lot of uncertainty over the past year; however, Australia remains at the forefront of technological evolution, which has brought about the emergence of new technologies.

For the tech industry alone, 2025 is set to be a year of exciting advances. Here are the three key trends to look out for:

1. Unconscious AI integration

In 2025, AI will be truly ubiquitous and no longer considered something only used by IT professionals. Instead, it will seamlessly impact nearly every profession in one way or another. For most people, AI will integrate into new software and hardware systems without workers even realising it. Many AI applications are intuitive, meaning organisations can boost productivity simply by updating software and refreshing hardware.

HP’s latest Work Relationship Index (WRI) shows that AI usage among knowledge workers reached 66% in 2024, with 71% of Australian respondents citing productivity as the main benefit. Over the next year, we will see a significant increase in Australian businesses investing to optimise AI for their needs, creating applications that are easy to use.

New technologies present new opportunities, but also new challenges. One challenge for businesses will be ensuring these tools are user-friendly and humane. Simplifying the language used by AI and improving accuracy is crucial for delivering more useful responses and actions.

2. Automation in cybersecurity is a priority for businesses

Security will continue to move up the priority stack for Australian organisations as cybersecurity remains a central focus. In 2023, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) reported that Australians made more than 600,000 scam reports, losing $2.7 billion overall.

A number of recent high-profile attacks —MediSecure, Optus, and Latitude, among others—have further raised the stakes. A new Cybersecurity Act will force Australian businesses and government entities to disclose ransomware payments or face fines. For this reason, CIOs will significantly increase their cybersecurity investments in 2025. AI-driven solutions will be among these investments, helping organisations ensure client safety.

3. Technology will increase personalisation and productivity

According to our most recent WRI report, another key emerging trend is the demand for personalised work experiences and leveraging technology to achieve this. This need is becoming so prominent that 87% of knowledge workers would be willing to sacrifice part of their salary for it.

A shift to enablement and training will be a priority as businesses focus on the transformation intersection—namely the adoption of AI, the Windows 11 refresh, and the complexity of hybrid working. AI will improve the workplace by incorporating better insights, intelligence, and automation. When this happens, workers will be better informed and more efficient, enabling greater profitability for businesses.

Looking forward

As we step into 2025, I’m optimistic about the future and excited to see how Australians embrace emerging innovations that will transform the sector.

Whether you’re upgrading your hardware or exploring the next wave of AI-powered tools, these trends will be key to watch—and personal systems will play a pivotal role in adapting to these changes.
