The 2016 Season opens in the State Theatre, Arts Centre Melbourne on July 23 with FUNNY GIRL. Caroline O’Connor is Fanny Brice in Gale Edwards’ new staging of this classic Broadway musical FUNNY GIRL. David Hobson makes his debut with The Production Company as the debonair gambler, Nick Arnstein. Nancye Hayes is Mrs. Brice.
CURTAINS The musical comedy whodunnit from Kander and Ebb opens on August 20. Set in Boston in 1959 when on the opening night of Robbin’ Hood of the Old West, its supremely untalented leading lady is murdered. Starring Simon Gleeson as Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, the local detective and a passionate amateur theatrical who unravels the mystery, fixes the show and falls in love with the ingénue, Miss Niki Harris.
DUSTY opens in the Playhouse on November 12 for a run of twenty performances. This new production will feature an all star cast including Todd McKenney, Queenie van de Zandt and Elenoa Rokobaro.
